I'd go with someone Foreign, someone who will instill a certain playing style. I'd go with Roberto Martinez, or Arsene Wenger someone like that. Coaching in England is so bad that we need a complete over-haul on how to obtain FA badges and I don't I can trust an English manager to do much with this.
So I'd for with Andre Villas Boas.

Martinez or wenger would be really good for the England team. I'd prefer to stick with an English manager, but wouldn't be against either of them.
Hod would be good as he was a great manager. Only concern would be how long he's been out of management now. Would love for him to take over a Prem club and show that he's still got it, and then he can take over England again after that. By far one of the most knowledgeable pundits around and I'm sure he's still got it.
Screw it, I'd take him back in charge of England anyway. Don't care that he's not managed anyone in God knows how long. He was great and I bet he still is.
Martinez wouldn't work. Wouldn't get anywhere near enough time with them to get the team playing how he'd want. He'd be a great pick though if he could get England playing like he does his club teams. Just can't see it, and that's nothing to do with ability but all down to lack of time with the players to get them working a certain style. He's not afraid to work with young talented players though which is great and would probably help.
I'm still fine with Roy, he hasn't given us the results yet but I'm happier with the squad and performances than I have been in the 18 years I've been watching England.
If for some reason he goes, give the job to Ferguson. He's not doing anything right now and must be frustrated as hell watching United ruin everything he built.

I don't think Roy is going anywhere.
But even if he did I don't understand everyone being so high on Hoddle. He was a decent manager but he hasn't managed in years and all he's done is a couple of BBC video packages where he makes out like he's some tactical god (which if that was the case, he would have lead England into this World Cup).
I do think though that if they did sack Roy (which would be a terrible decision) then they should stick to someone English. I've never liked the idea of a foreign manager for the international team, just doesn't seem right.

Thanks Taker_2004 for the banner!

Roy almost certainly isn't getting sacked, this is a hyperthetical question.
Hod has been out for a while, but international football is different. Klinsmann had no managerial experience before leading the Germans to third place at the 2006 (I think) world cup.
Out of the English candidates, I feel he is the best choice. Pardew has never done it for me, Harry would be hopeless because u need to defend and have tactical awareness. And after that, who is there?
Roy hasn't done an awful job, but he hasn't been good either. He's brought a few young players thru, but still stuck with the old guard like lampard and Gerrard. Neither should have gone to the world cup.
He also doesn't know how to change a game, or close out a result. His substitutions are bland and don't inspire, his formation is too rigid. He doesn't know how to get the best out of the players we have, and hasn't been able to attack or defend properly.
I hate the merry go round of English management, but I think Roy should go...

Sven would be better than Roy or harry...
Assume Woy has gone, who takes over and why?
I'm a Hod fan.
Wing backs with Walker/Clyne on the right and Baines/Shaw on the left sounds good, especially as we have crap wingers...
He's tactically astute, and was the last England manager to have the team playing like a team.
He's still God
He's English.
He's someone that can talk and inspire, but still remain grounded.
He hasn't mentioned anything religious or talked about little disabled people for decades!
I don't think Eileen drewery works with him any more...
