City and Chelsea became the best teams when they got the most money. Same as all the other top clubs.
Spending money basically is the only way to improve teams in any noticeable way, other than getting a new manager, and even then that only works if you go from a shit manager to a great one. Crystal Palace are doing a hell of a lot better under Pulis than Holloway, but are they going to finish higher than 17th next year without buying new, better players? Doubtful.
Every club talks about strengthening positions, regardless of bank balances. You should always look to improve, however great you are. Munich won the Champions League last year, do you think they should just stop? That's suicide. Barcelona will be losing Valdes at the end of the season, they're not just going to fall back to their backup keeper because they're a top three Spanish side. City do have, basically, two very strong first teams, but our centre backs (specifically the non-Kompany centre back) are lacking. Sure, Lescott is better than anyone in the bottom ten sides in the league, probably, but still. Why not look to improve if you can?
Fact is, whether we spend 10 million, 100 million or nothing at all in the transfer window, we're not so far and above every other team in the league that we can afford to feel satisfied with the squad we have. Chelsea still beat us twice, Barcelona destroyed us twice, and even Wigan got the better of us. That's not the state of a team that doesn't need adjustments. I wish it were as simple as giving Demichelis extra training or telling Nastasic to play better. Those guys are great players, but in a team that is better than them. They're the weak link.

Not gonna lie Chux, I stopped reading after that first sentence. The delusions are too much.
Anyway, why does Mourinho continue to say his team aren't title contenders? It almost self parody, he's at the top of the table for gods sake! The guy is a massive cunt and a bullshitter, but this is just ridiculous.

Because when Chelsea fail he can say he never expected to win the League anyway.

It's because of the squads. City have brilliant strikers who are scoring. Chelsea don't. There was an interview with Jose not long ago where he gave that as the reason, saying you can't be favourites to win the league when you don't have great strikers.

How do you know if you didn't read it? 😄

Like Rhys said, as a backup in case they don't win. Makes sense, but is complete bullshit.

I don't get the constant spending over and over. If you buy quality once, you're not going to need to reinforce for a while. City love to improve their attack but always scrimp on the defence. Its either players too old (Maicon, Demichelis, Sylvinho, Vieira, Hargreaves), too young (Savic, Nastastic) or overspending on above average (Lescott, Toure, Barry).

That's exactly the problem. They haven't tried to replace quality when they have it, they bought Negredo and Jovetic to replace Balotelli and Tevez, not because Aguero and Dzeko weren't delivering. But yep, we've had a long string of bad defenders which really do need replacing. I'd have given Boyata a few more chances myself.

It's ridiculous that Giroud upfront will probably win more trophies than any of the other great strikers Arsenal have had over the last 9 years, he's definitely the worst starting striker we've had for many a year.

Ref has just made a huge fuck up in the Chelsea Arsenal match. Definite red card, no arguments about that. But he gave the red to the wrong fucking player.
What a start for Arsenal. 3-0 and a man down. No idea what Chamberlain was thinking.

A keeper would have been proud of that save!
If it was going in, a keeper should be!

Wenger has no balls for this anymore. How does he let Mourinho call him a faliure and then lose to him 6-0?

How? He is a failure.

How? He is a failure.
He's not, he has many great achievements.

Sylef Gudjersson? Close enough.

The last 20 minutes of the Atletico/Malaga game were pretty intense. Atletico just needed one goal to win La Liga as they were drawing 1-1. Malaga were doing everything they could to thwart Atletico's advances, even getting a player sent off with 3 minutes to go. In the last minute Adrian had the ball tee'ed up and it was destined for the top corner, until Willy pulled off (ooo'er) an amazing save.

Real lost & Barcelona drew this week, so the final game of the season between Atletico & Barcelona is a straight shoot-out winner takes all. Atletico can still win the title with a draw though and its at the Nou Camp.
Out of your top three teams they're all lacking in form, none of them have won in their last 2 games. Barcelona have 2 out of 6 points. Atletico have 1 out of 6 points & Real have 1 out of 6 points.

Atletico Madrid won the La Liga title today after drawing with Barca. Shockingly though they had less than 500 fans in the away end. Less than 500? In a game that was for the title that's awful. I do wonder though whether that's Barca not allowing it or whether support is just that shit.
Apparently there was no trophy at the stadium, something to do with the Liga chairman having better things to do?

Barcelona only allocated them 500 tickets.

Barcelona only allocated them 500 tickets.
Absolutely disgusting if that's right, considering the size of their stadium. Some League 2 teams allocate more away tickets than that.
Barcelona have a habit of allocating small numbers of tickets to away supporters. It is shocking but it has gond on for so long clubs have gotten used to it.
Saying that, great scenes when Atletico won the title. That coupled with Arsenal winning the FA Cup is what football is all about.

Exactly, the best players go to the best teams. Since when were Chelsea and City the best teams?
I also hate the fact that because of them now every fan in the country thinks the only way to improve teams is to spend money, I always hear fans talking about 'in the summer we gotta spend this much to buy that much', Chelsea made it like that it really pisses me off. I hear Spirs and Cty fans talking about positions they need new players in even though one spent 100 millon on a team and the other spends that much every season on players, how is depth still an issue when you spend this much?
