Tomb Raider

On a side note because i'm not going to make a new tomb raider thread... chux did you play the new one?

Yeah, I played it. It was pretty good, there was a hell of a lot I really enjoyed about it. The controls were good, and some of the level design was excellent. I just ran around the shanty town map parkour style because it was so well made. Everything led somewhere, and Lara always seemed to lock on to narrow beams without any trouble. That was great stuff.

The only two complaints I have were that there was way too much combat and the game was kinda linear. I don't really mind being led down a path, I enjoyed FFXIII, but having just finished Far Cry 3 I guess I was a bit spoiled. I must have killed 500 guys over the course of the game, which made the island feel much less deserted and spooky than it would have otherwise. If there were like 20 guys in that cult, each encounter would have actually meant a lot. Apparently that's what they were going for, taking Lara on an emotional journey through her first kill and all that. She sold for about 30 seconds after killing that guy, then she was straight up and slaughtering dozens more. Oh, and it must have been night for about 20 straight hours while I was playing. I don't know if there was supposed to be a cycle in-game or the levels were pre-set, but damn, I could barely see anything.

The only other complaint I really have was that the non-combat stuff like the hidden tombs were way too short. Each one had a really nice little puzzle in, but then it was over. It felt like such a shame that the best parts were also the shortest. I'd love another game just like this, but with the gameplay elements reversed. Give me a wide open island to explore without worrying about being shot all the time, and then like 10 hidden bosses to hunt down.

I've tried getting through Uncharted a couple of times now, but have run into the same problem. These games are so great at creative platforming and puzzles, but then they decide that they have to be Call of Duty as well. There's way too much shooting in everything these days. And this is where I would joke about having guns in the next Sonic game, but I'm actually nearly a decade late on that.

I didn't know you played Far Cry 3, what a great game you should see what they did with that blood dragon add on.. it's quite funny and very cheesy.

I agree with you on the tomb raider reviews a few less bad guys may made it more interesting or maybe keep the bad guys but have some stealth modes sorta like the new Hitman, or Splinter Cell games... but not full on stealth like those games it would be strange... anyways the game sold a ton and a sequel is in pre production so hopefully they keep building on it... one thing that bothered me were fanboys complaining cause how violent the game is and how aggressive Lara gets as the game progresses well i don't know but if i was in her position and my friends are kidnapped by primitive maniacs i'd be all out violent too defending myself.

anyways great game and it made my cut for games to keep in my once a year game trade ins that's more then i can say about many games i have owned.

Also i see you play Fifa alot, i heard they nailed those games to near perfection i don't know how true that is cause i don't play that but if so i wish EA could do that for my sports games...

I liked this game, it did feel like at every corner there as a bunch of bad guys waiting to shoot me at times. But the visuals were great and the running around as fluid like chux said, I hope in the sequels they make her boobs bigger. Old Lara Croft was so much less plain looking and the whole sexy arrogance was the best part of her character. It makes sense that she as so scared and unsure in this game, so hopefully in the future she's much more arrogant and less startled by things.

Also the whole hunting part of the game seems pointless, I've barely used it.

Yeah, FIFA is the go-to when I have nothing else to play. It's one that never ends, so it's easy to pick up and put down. The new one is coming out soon, but I don't know if I'll bother with it. There was virtually no change between 12 and 13, so I'm guessing it'll be the same again this time around.

I'm definitely interested in Blood Dragon, but I already re-sold the FC3 disc and I don't have enough space for the download anyway. The Xbox Core sucks. 10GB HDD! Even worse when I got the Arcade version (because the Core has no HDMI port), no HDD at all on that one.

Yeah, it did get pretty violent as the game went on. I didn't mind that so much, I just thought it was stupid given how sensitive they were trying to make her early on. Go with one or the other.

I found out you actually don't need to have a copy of Far Cry 3's disc to play Dragon, but if you don't have the room then it's not worth it you need a bit of room for GTA:V's mandatory installs...you are going to need 8 gigs to play it....

i just end up deleting things i don't play for space i have one of the big HD's 250 gigs i think... i have like 37% space left. i install pretty much all of my games to spare the disc drive pain... except for Arkham City, for some reason that game has major issues freezing at the main menu if it's installed. 🙁 so that's also another reason i install everything... that game had put my drive to work big time.

Yeah, I had to get an extra USB stick ready for GTA. I would get a bigger HDD, but by the time I'm done with GTA it'll probably be time to get the One anyway. Interesting that you don't need the FC3 disc for Blood Dragon. If the install isn't too big I might have to give that a go.

I figured that out when i was downloading the demo for Blood Dragon, i was too lazy to go find the fry cry 3 game (was in another room) it said no need to have far cry 3 the game to play it and that was for the full game.

I was going to come back and mention USB sticks but you already got that covered... only like 9 days left until it's out!
