Following yesterdays reveal of the new Pokémon, and the Mega Evolutions, some clear images have surfaced which showcase some of these Pokémon in battle. It also provides a few further bits of information. First, Pokémon can only Mega Evolve when they are holding a Mega Stone. Mega Stones are a type of item like Evolutionary Stones and include specific items such as the Blazikenite that the event Torchic holds. The Blazikenite is not found within normal gameplay. It also confirms that Mega Evolutions are temporary, being only in battle.
It confirms that not all Pokémon will have Mega Evolutions. The Master Tower has a connection to Mega Evolutions
It also confirms stat increases, stating that MegaLucario's Attack is higher. MegaAbsol has increased Attack & Speed.
We also can confirm that Meekuru has the ability Sap Sipper. Finally, it also confirms that Super Training will increase Pokémon's "Kiso" Points. This is what EVs are commonly called in Japan.05:33: Next month's CoroCoro to feature new Pokémon, new Mega Evolutions and type chart featuring the Fairy-type.
With the official Japanese site update, a small note came out regarding further clarification on the Mega Evolutions. Within this site, it details that with Mega Evolutions, you can only have one Mega Evolution Pokémon in battle. It's not known whether it's talking about all of the battle, or just within your team. This is presumably to allow for a specific balance in the Pokémon. It also clarifies that the Pokémon will revert after the battle has ended, not within it itself when the battle finishes. We're still not 100% on the specifics of this new process, but we'll keep you updated as more information comes.

MegaKangaskhan

Oh hell yeah.
Edit @ 17:14: During the VGC Opening Ceremony, Junichi Masuda revealed a new Mega Pokémon, Mega Kangaskhan which has the baby Kangaskhan grow and come out of battle. It has the ability Parental Bond that allows its attacks to hit twice in one turn. We'll have pictures and details as soon as possible. Picture thanks to @pklug on Twitter
Edit @ 18:05: It has also been confirmed that the Pokémon X & Y soundtrack will be available worldwide in November 2013 on iTunes

Not about X & Y, but there's a new anime coming soon based on the manga. It follows Red, not Ash, and supposedly sticks to the original story. Boom!

Waaaah! We get a Gen VI starter, plus a choice of any of the Gen I starters too, right at the start of the game. Boom.

I don't get it, do you get to choose a gen 4 starter OR a gen 1 start Or a gen 6 starter? Or is it you get all 3 at once? Either way I don't like this.

You get both a VI and a I starter. I think the professor gives you the new one, then your rival gives you the gen I.

So for some reason I read that as IV in the previous post. So you get a gen 6 and a gen 1 starter? I'm still not a fan of this idea, one starter is enough for you, I guess I'm gonna go with Fennekin and Squirtle.

Yep, 6 and 1. And me too, I always need a fire starter and Mega Blastoise looks like a badass.
Just think of it as one starter and one badass early-stage Pokémon. Instead of picking up a Pidgey, you get a Charmander!

I think I'll go for Froakie and Bulbasaur.

You have much to learn, young trainer.

Pfft.... I'm a Pokemon Master.

More like a Pokémon disaster! Nyah nyah. Smell ya later.

Anyone who picks Bulbasaur as a starter doesn't know shit, and Squirtle is obviously the greatest water starter ever. Squitle, Torchic and either Treecko or Turtwig are the best starters. Generation 3 had a great line up.

All three starters are good choices, or else they wouldn't really be starters. Bulbasaur in Gen 1 had advantages over the first three gyms, resistance over the fourth and also an advantage over the eighth. So I think that's a pretty good choice.
I agree Torchic is one of the best, if there's one thing I'd love to use in this game it'd be a MegaBlaziken.

By the time you get to Cerulean you can pick up an Oddish or Bellsprout, making Bulbasaur pretty useless. It's good for Brock, but so is Squirtle. The important thing is long-term planning. With a Weepinbell/Gloom and Poliwhirl you're pretty much set, but you don't get another good fire type until right near the end. And Brock can be taken down without too much trouble with a Butterfree, it learns confusion at level 10 after it evolves. Done. And remember you can find a Pikachu in Viridian Forest, so Misty is no trouble either. Surge? Well Mount Moon is full of Geodude, and conveniently there's TM01 too - mega punch - which makes Geodude pretty deadly.
Basically, Bulbasaur sucks. It evolves into Venusaur four levels early just so you can box that jabroni and move on.

Anyway, Blastoise has the best MegaEvolution (aesthetically)... Vensaurs and Charizards don't look all that different.

Picking a fire starter usually makes the most sense, aye. But I love my water starters, even though Gyarados can do the job just as well and you can even get a shiny version in Gen 2. I never use Grass pokemon anyway so missing Bulbasaur never really hurt me.
Will they ever change the starting line ups? If they were gonna let you choose a starter from Gen 1, they should've made the Gen 6 starters Psychic-Dark-Fighting.

Middle evolutions of the starters have been leaked!

And apparently the previous Mewtwo mega transformation is exclusive to Y version, here's Mega Mewtwo X:

Both new Mewtwos look so gay, I don't like either of their new formes I hope the others aren't as shit.

I don't like those middle evolutions for the starters. The grass starter one is alright, but the other two I don't like. I hope the final evolutions are better.

So I never played any of the Gen 4 or 5 games, how are they? I hear a lot of the Gen 4 games but I feel like Gen 5 was swept under the carpet.

Gen V was good. I really liked the start of Black and White, only using the new Pokémon until after the Elite Four. I hope they do that again, it's a great way to get used to some of the new faces.
Speaking of which, meet Pyroar!

I just saw the new trailer, I think Imma pick a Charmander and this Gens Water type as it looks better than the fire type one. The fire type looks a bit gay, but I'll wait and see till it's final form and Charizard is a badass anyway.

I was never a fan of different Pokemon formes. If it's just aesthetic, I won't mind so much but the different forms have always mostly been just a legends thing and now their doing it to the regulars? Feels a bit overkill.
Although I do have to admit that Mawile new forme looks great.
