Doesn't mean Newcastle accepted a bid. We've never accepted a bid. Llambias was in charge of transfers at that time and he opened his mouth to fans all the time about what bids we'd had and our own failed bids. Never been any mention of ever accepting or even receiving a bid from Cabaye - just paper talk that clubs are interested as always.

Neither link stats a bid was accepted, and I'm too lazy to search more. But it looks pretty clear that he could have gone if he wanted, but he wanted to stay. Luckily for us as Dembele is a better player 😉
Couple of direct quotes in the links as well from his interview with Canel+
The Mag is highly unreliable. The claimed last season that a billionaire Arab was looking at buying Mike Ashley out among other transfer targets that Newcastle were looking at buying - players that only Champions League teams would be buying. Would trust what's written there as much as I would reading The Sun.
Direct quotes in there, and lots of other places all stating the same words in his interview. On the bright side, he rejected us. Good news for you (if he gets over his injuries and back to the player he was when you finished 5th).
Reports from London are saying Arsenal have made a £35m bid for both Ashley Williams and Michu. Take it with a pinch of salt.

Serious one this time.
With Arse almost certainly thru now, will this be the catalyst for signing players? If Suarez has a champions league release clause of £40m, once the 2nd leg is over does that mean Arse's bid of £40,000,001 triggers it, and he'll move to North London?
I can see Arse doing some business now with a big money centre back coming in first.
I hate to compare but Spurs and Liverpool attract players without CL football. It's not that big of a deal if you can make promises of ambition to players, which is what Arsenal aren't doing.
And if the release clause wasn't real before I doubt it means anything now.

He doesn't have a Champions League release clause

Former Arsenal midfielder Mathieu Flamini is in talks over a return to Emirates Stadium.
Arsenal are also considering a £40m bid for Benzema and Di Maria from Madrid.

Giroud is better than Soldado.

No, he isn't. At all.

No, he isn't. At all.
As a premier league striker, he is right now. Giroud got 17 goals last year and obe this year. Soldado has one this year.
However, buy the end of the season I think Soldado will be seen as the better premier league striker. (When it comes to what they have done over their careers, soldado is way ahead...)

I prefer debating with Hilds, even when he's trying to obviously troll me. He has his own opinions and doesn't go with whats popular.

Make that 2 now sonny jim. Soldado can't even get ahead of Torres in the Spanish team, not the Torres of Liverpool but the one that's a laughing stock. The one line statement was me trying ruffle some feathers but I sincerely predict Soldado is gonna struggle to settle to the league, while Giroud is gonna have a good season.

I wasn`t trying to start a debate. Just disagreeing with what you said.
But if you want me to go into more detail, I don`t think Giroud is better. As a Premierleague striker, he is, but it`s unfair to compare them since Soldado`s only just joined Spurs. And as a striker in general terms, I prefere Soldado.
Giroud might have scored 17 goals last season, and yeah, there`s no doubt he`s a good striker but Soldado just seems better in every way. But we`ll see at the end of the season.

You didn't actually go into any detail at all.

I did. I said it`s unfair to compare them as Premier League strikers and that even though Giroud is a good striker, Soldado is the better player. It`s like Hilds said, if you compare both, Soldado has a much more successful career. How much detail do you want me to go into?

Thanks Taker_2004 for the banner!
I want you to actually compare them both, instead of asking me to trust your word for it. I doubt you've watched much of Soldado so you're basing your judgement on what? His 2 matches with Spurs?
Soldad has a much more successful career? Sure he had a few good years at Valencia, but Giroud took a team like Montepellier to the top of the french league as their best player and won the league, they are never contenders in France.
Next thing you'll say is that Paulinho is better than Cazorla or Adebayor is better at Spurs than he was Arsenal.

No, I don`t think Paulinho is better than Cazorla. Nor do I think Adebayor has been better at Spurs.
But I do think Soldado is better than Giroud. First of all, it's my opinion, not fact. So you don`t need to take my word for it. You either agree with me or you don`t.
But alriight, let's compare them. Their careers. Giroud has had one decent season with Arsenal. He had one great season with Montpellier and before Montpellier he spent his career in the french lower leagues. True, he had some good goalscoring records but it was still the french lower leagues, and not on the same level as the teams Soldado has played for.
Soldado like you said, had a few good seasons with Valencia, and he`s had a great start to his Spurs career. And in his younger days, he played for some Spanish lower league teams but he also had a fantastic time in Real Madrid B and even has sixteen games in the Real Madrid first team.
Let's compare their International Games. Giroud has 20 caps for France, with 3 goals. Soldado has 11 games with Spain, with 6 goals. That`s double the goals in almost half the games.
Career Records: Giroud has scored 113 goals in 266 games. Soldado has 198 goals in 400 games. It's close, but Soldado has a better goals-to-games ratio.
Soldado is more prolific, more successful and more talented. He`s played for better teams, has a better goal ratio and basically beats Giroud in every way you could compare them.... detailed enough for you?

Plus soldado plays for spurs and giroud for arse, so that makes soldado better...
Seriously tho, u cant compare paulinho with carzola. Its different positions. Compare carzole with bale, or paulinho with arteta (arteta is probably the closest u have to a defensive midfielder). Personally, i think both sets of fans would be happier with a swop deal. We need a creative midfielder to play behind the striker and you need a defensive midfielder. Cant compare the players tho.

I've seen Arsenal win the league at White Heart Lane, how many times have you seen Spurs do it?

Winning the league is over rated. It's all about how many 'T' you have in your name. That's where the real glory is
Just saw the headlines on Sky Sports quoting Wenger saying "We will not Panic Buy"
I think it would be more apt for Wenger to say "We will not buy" at least then, the fans wouldn't be disappointed every year

Seeing how Hilds was acting in this thread compared to his humility in the transfer record thread i hilarious. Arsenal shocked the world with this one.

Cabaye himself is quoted as saying he had the chance to sign for spurs, but rejected it because he wanted to see where Newcastle would go.
