I'll withhold my answer until I complete further analysis. That being said, FF7 is one of the greatest games of all time. Could have easily been my answer had you not have said it first.

I nominate Final Fantasy 7.
For me, it has to be Pokemon. If we're talking about which game I have joyed the most, played the longest, loved thestory and game mechanics, then it has to be Pokemon. 90% of my childhood gaming was Pokemon. If I need to choose a specific Pokemon game, it would probably be Ruby.
I played through Ruby so many times I know it freakishly well. So as crazy as it sounds, I'm saying Pokemon Ruby is my favourite game of all time, I guess. Although really, it's more the Pokemon game series as a whole.

Gen III was the worst! You're a weird one, Welshy. Pokémon games are always good, and I enjoy them as much as anything else. Totally hyped for the new ones. But then I enjoy the franchise as a whole more than any individual game. Red and Blue were unlike anything I'd ever played at the time, but are unplayable now. So many little annoyances.
FFVII is definitely a contender, but it's starting to show its age. For the time it's phenomenal, but everything it did well - except the ageless storyline - has been done better since. All of mine are RPGs anyway, especially Tales of Symphonia, Tales of Vesperia, Skies of Arcadia, Golden Sun and Eternal Sonata. Blue Dragon was a good time too.
I should throw out A Link To The Past because it's awesome, and the entire Mario and Sonic series, since when you go that retro it kinda becomes a different question. How do you compare Double Dragon to GTA V?

Damn it, Chux! You can only pick one game. The point isn't to compare genres, it's to say which game you like the best and why.
Chux took the words out of my mouth asking how to compare the genre's and with that i honestly don't know... from an overall standpoint and not my own opinion i'd say Tetris is the greatest game of all time... personal preferences change over the years... as of right now which has changed before and will change again, but for me the best game to me is Arkham City, why? because i still play that game and it's challenge maps now almost 2 years after it's release... that's dedication.
otherwise A Link to The Past, and Mario Series, or MGS 1 or 3. GTA.
Final Fantasy VII isn't exactly the greatest game to me... it's in my top 50 i'm sure... i know it was the first game to ever make me feel any type of emotion for and they were ugly little blocky pixel people.... Long live Barrett.
San Andreas

Chrono Trigger.
I also very much enjoyed Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem. But I think I was naive.

Childhood was all about Sonic though. Fuck the plumber in red. 🙂

No i don't think you were... Eternal Darkness, was amazing and very unique i see it show up on peoples favorite games list all the time.
People are still begging for a new game.
It was really well done, and a good story. I almost don't think it's re-make able because it wouldn't have the same feel. I'm glad some other people pick it up, and I do see it on a lot of lists, but I think it just fell behind as A Resident Evil knock-off.
I really did love how it incorporated your personal insanity into the game elements, especially when I was staying up late at night playing it in the dark.

We have done a worst game you have ever played now this is for the single best game you have ever played. What game has the best of everything? Action, story, actual gameplay? For me, and I'm sure Mr. Brackets it would be Final Fantasy 7. It's about as good of a game as you can get. It's got an entertaining story, solid characters, fun gameplay, great puzzles, awesome cutscenes, and it's long enough to let you get into it and then some. Most RPG's now are like 30 hours or less. I think I clocked in at 75 hours and I didn't finish all the side quests. Just a perfect game for my gaming tastes. I have been trying to locate a reasonable copy for PC but I've seen them as high as $1000.00 on ebay. I really would love to jump back into this and restart.
So now it's your turn. What is the ONE game that you believe is the best game you have ever played? Just pick one. I know it's easy to pick multiple games from different genres but if there was one and only one game you could have from any era of gaming, what would it be??
