The Blue Print

I didn't know what to call this thread! But in the last year I have become more active and more into working out and fitness. I went from being 310 pounds to now being 210 pounds exact! What is everyones routine for those who actively work out?

I go to my gym 2 to 3 times a week. I start off with weight lifting, I want to put on muscle, I read some where that it burns calories and highers metabolism. Then I drink Whey protein and head to the stairmaster where I do two miles on it. Whatever I am doing is working. But maybe there are better methods to what I should be doing when it comes to weights.

I do the bench press, 8 reps and 3 sets of that. Then go to the dumbells where I do a shoulder press I think it is called, 3 sets and 8 reps. Then two types of bicep curls, one at a heavier weight where i do 3 sets of 8 again. Then the other I do at a lower weight but do the 3 sets but up the reps to 10. Tricep curls which I do 10 reps and 3 sets. Shoulder shrugs, I do like 20 reps and 3 sets at a higher weight.

I work my legs but not as much. As a bigger guy I was able to develop stronger leg muscles for lugging all myself around everywhere! I also get a calf workout from doing the stairmaster. I feel like I should be doing squats or something. I do the leg press most of the time.

All in all getting a gym membership has been the best investment I have ever made in my life. I love myself now days and am so much more confident in myself. It has truely been the hardest thing that I have ever had to do in my life is lose weight. I'm glad I stuck with it.

Yeah if your goal is to lose weigh then cardio more and do less weight but more reps, although it seems like you've lost plenty of weight!

You can either lose weight and build back weigh with muscle instead of fat or put muscle on now, you will add weight, and then shred back down. Although you will have to take alot of protein

I have a terrible cycle going. Right now I weigh 200lbs. My ideal weight is 175-185. I lose it easily so I don't tend to work out until I feel like a huge piece of shit. I am approaching that feeling soon. I usually do a lot of cardio and not much weight training and the weight comes off. Rinse and repeat. My lower body never puts on weight so I try to just lean down the upper half so I don't look like an upside down bowling pin.

If you wanna just lost weight that works, but if you don't lift at all, even just a little bit, you'll lose muscle too

Jek

I've been going to the gym more consistently recently, I'm short and skinny so I'm trying to gain weight rather than lose it. I've been doing a lot of strength training I don't want to go too into my routine but when i first starting working out it was the worst but I'm doing well now and loving it.

Yikes!!!! 100 lbs. I was doing well going from 265 down to 230. nice going. Yeah, cardio and diet. Also, age and metabolism are a bitches. It's what got me. I go to the gym about 4x a week, and do weights and some cardio, and I try to cut down on calories... so I can trade those cals for liquor calories. I'm weak...

I a currently in a bit of a fitness kick to get myself in top shape for the upcoming cricket season. Just being more careful with what I eat, eatting a lot more fruit and veg. Also not drinking soft drink, bottled jucies just water, fresh made juices and smoothies. Also cut right back on the amount of beers I drink and now often go 2-3 week stints without drinking anything.

As for working out never been much of a fan of going to gyms so just do my own thing at home. Also helps on the money side of things. Have got a set of dumbells, a skipping rope. Do lots of sqauts, sit ups, jumping jacks and the like. Also go on a fair few hikes around the mountain I live on. Got myself a carry bag for when I play golf also helps add a bit more fitness to my rounds.
