Probably because Vince insists on them working during lockdown and they don't fancy their chances of not getting Covid19 if they did...

WWE has come to terms on the release of Kurt Angle, Drake Maverick (James Curtin), Curt Hawkins (Brian Myers), Karl Anderson (Chad Allegra), Luke Gallows (Drew Hankinson), Heath Slater (Heath Miller), Eric Young (Jeremy Fritz), EC3 (Michael Hutter), Aiden English (Matthew Rehwoldt) and Lio Rush (Lionel Green). We wish them all the best in their future endeavors.
Some aren't a surprise. Some are - Anderson and Gallows for example just took part in WrestleMania. Might not have had a match, but they were certainly involved in one of the big matches.
To be honest I wouldn't be surprised if it is down to them not wanting to work during this pandemic... would not put it past Vince at all.
They just keep adding to the article. Sarah Logan, Mike Chioda, Primo, Epico and I've also seen where several producers have been let go
Rusev had gone now as well. Wonder how long Lana stays.
It's a bit of a mixed one. The wrestlers that hve been released are actually released, not furloughed.
Rusev, Kurt Angle, Drake Maverick, Zack Ryder, Curt Hawkins, Karl Anderson, Luke Gallows, Heath Slater, Eric Young, Rowan, Sarah Logan, No Way Jose, Mike Chioda, Mike Kanellis, Maria Kanellis, EC3, Aiden English, Lio Rush, Primo and Epico.
It's about time that Mike and Maria Kanellis were gone. Really have no idea what they were doing most of the time. Surprised by Rusev and No Way Jose though. Even Rowan, as I thought Vince had a soft spot for him.
Some NXT guys have gone as well.
Producers and coaches who were named as part of the cuts, were specifically not named on the WWE site because they are being furloughed, not sacked/released/whatever you want to call it.

So on top of all that talent, they released Mike Chioda, the longest-serving referee the WWE still has and for what? Because he doesn't want to put himself at risk in the midst of a pandemic that calls for worldwide social distancing? Yes, the same reason is probably behind all these releases, but seriously, to just ditch a guy who's worked for you for literally 30 years like that? Cold as ice.

That's not the reason behind these releases at all. WWE announced weeks ago anyone could go home. This is financial. They've lost a shit-ton of money and need to make cuts, simple as that.

Thanks Taker_2004 for the banner!
As I understand it, Chioda is furloughed... So they're protecting his job whilst saving money. Only wrestlers are actually being released.
Curtis Axel has been released... not gonna lie, didn't even know he was still employed.

This is nuts. I can’t believe they’re letting some of this talent go
