According to PW Insider, WWE's Michael Cole has received a promotion within the company. His new corporate title is the Vice President of Announcing and has been effective for the last few weeks.

Cole has had a prestigious 23-year run in WWE, which included a heel personal that culminated in a WrestleMania matchup against Hall of Famer Jerry The King Lawler.

Still can't stand him. 23 years and he's still awful and fucks up calling matches and moves.

Considering who they've had come and go over the years, one thing we can say Cole is very good at is kissing ass! On another note, that title is rather amusing!

Should be Triple H after his recent showing.

I do love how companies just make up titles to make people feel more important.

More details on it

— Michael Cole, who has always been considered as a leader within the announcing team - responsible for overseeing and communicating directly with the team, has received a new title - VP of Announcing. While Cole has never directly been in charge of picking the commentating teams, he has had a say along with Triple H with the final decision going to Vince McMahon. With the changes on Raw and Smackdown over the last year, Paul Heyman and Bruce Prichard have had some input as well, according to the Observer Newsletter.

— There had been talks over the last couple of years that Cole’s announcing duties would be scaled back and he is only four years younger than Jim Ross was when Vince McMahon and Kevin Dunn decided and started pushing Jim Ross to retire.

My take away from this is that Cole is either older than I thought, or Ross was younger than I thought when Vince tried to push him into retirement.

Michael Cole is 51 now, so for someone who is obsessed with the young and sexy the way Vince is, it doesn't surprise me too much that he'd want to start phasing out the 50+ year olds from live TV....
