This made me laugh way more than it should. WWE seem to have a weird thing for last names recently where they've removed either them or the first name. Apparently one name is easier than two, never mind that pretty much all their viewers will have more than one name. Not everyone can be a Cher.
This one if true though is just stupid. If you say them right, you can't really confuse them. Spelt quite different. Look different when written down. Sound different. Apollo doesn't even look like he could have a last name of Cruz (which sounds wrong to say, but you all know what I mean). Stupid, stupid reason to drop the name if it's true.
But with how they've dropped part of someones name previously, did they really need a reason to drop the last part of Apollo's name? No. No they did not.

Apollo Crews is back to using his full name, likely due to the fact that the original reason for the change - because Vince McMahon didn't want him to be associated with the Parkland, FL shooter Nikolas Cruz - is no longer in the news and thus not an issue.
This was dumb from the start anyway,

Thanks Taker_2004 for the banner!

Wow. That's like when 9/11 happened and there was this huge list of words/subjects that couldn't be used or alluded to on the radio for a while. Going as far as disallowing play of Canadian rock band Hot Hot Heat's 2001 single, "Bandages". Which has to do with metaphorical bandages. But it was too akin to "turban" in the eyes of... yeesh, I dunno who, but whatever clueless dipshits came up with this particular brand of censorship in the first place.

What a shit reason for a name change. Crews and Cruz just aren't the same, and how stupid do they think their fan base is if they think anyone would be offended by it?
