Overall, it was a pretty bad show.
Highlights:
-Public Enemy doing a triple table spot.
-Jericho v Guerrera was a great match and the highlight of the show
-Rey Mysterio v Psychosis
-Scott Hall, Kevin Nash and The Giant being so obviously drunk outta their skulls.
I'll give the show a D grade.

Meng vs. The Barbarian - What looked like a nice hard hitting match went to short. One cool spot in the match was an off the top belly to belly. That was brutal. After the match tons of interference. Not a good match. Could have been decent given some time.
The Public Enemy vs. The Dancing Fools - This one was weird, because it started off as a normal match, then in the middle of the match is suddenly turned into a street fight. The announcers seemed confused. This was pretty cringeworthy. But there was a high spot where one of the dudes climb the scaffolding and put someone through three tables stacked on top of each other. That spot makes the match worth watching atleast. Otherwise, pretty bad match if you take out the high spot.
Saturn vs. Raven vs. Kanyon - Decent match, went all over the place. They just called Perry Saturn, Saturn in WCW? Its the best match so far. Which isnt saying that much. Nothing overly exciting happened though. I don't have much to say about this one.
Rey Mysterio vs. Psichosis - Not much to say about this one. Was a decent match though. Mysterio delivered a weird huricanrana to win the match at the end and it looked like Pscihosis landed right on his head. This one just never seemed to get going, was kind of boring.
Stevie Ray vs. Chavo (TV Title) - Chavo has had so many bad gimmicks in his career hasnt he? Chavo comes out with a horse called pepe. This match didnt even go 3 mins. Nothing to say about it, why was this on the PPV? Terrible. Eddie bails Chavo out from Stevie Ray. Blah.
Steve McMichael vs. Brian Adams - This match is about as good as it sounds, which is shit. Who thought this was PPV worthy?
Juventud Guerrera vs. Chris Jericho - This was a great match, by far the match of the night. Probably the only reason to even watch this PPV. They stole the show that is for sure. Being a fan of Juvi and Jericho made it that much better for me im sure. Why couldn't we get more of this on the show?
Battle Royal - Everyone looked fucking drunk. Well Hall and Nash looked tanked. This was boring. But one thing I have to note is the crowd. Which wasn't loud at all that night, really got wild for Goldberg. Just goes to show you how over he was back then ehh? Goldberg wins in a dud.
DDP & Jay Leno vs. Hulk Hogan & Eric Bischoff - Its weird that this is the main event over Goldberg, you know the world champion? Sigh. This was bad too. Why WCW? WHY?
It was fun to watch the PPV in the chat with everyone. That is what made it a fun watch. But if I watched this by myself, I don't know how much I could take. This was an August PPV, so it was Summerslam's rival. You'd think WCW would put up a better showing to compete instead of treating this like a throwaway PPV. That is what this felt like, a throwaway PPV. Look forward to watching a different PPV next week though!

I don't have a lot to say wcw is a grab bag.
But ya got mongo baby! Don't drop ya on your head!.. and how about the drunken battle royal..
Jericho wearing a Japanese robe
Bashing bikers as weekend warriors hahaha
It wasn't very good, but not the worst show ever.
Wcw didn't make a much money off these ppvs, Bishoff was a big motorcycle mark.. so this was all a good idea to him... most of the wrestlers hated these shows as they basically had to camp and not shower or anything for the weekend.
Not much to really say about the whole show that guys above me have said...
the triple decker table spot was pretty cool... public enemy could be fun in these hardcore matches... disco inferno seemed to be trying his best, but alex wright was pretty much all fuck off to this.
The cruiser matches were fantastic and reminded of how well wcw did cruiser matches.
the main event was awful, but its interesting just because it was a big deal that hogan and leno would go at it that summer.
overall probably about a 4/10 show.
Coming up this week for our viewing group is...
WWE Vengeance 2002.
stay tuned for our reviews 🙂
A few of us have got together and watched a PPV (kind of like a book club but with PPVs) with the idea we can do it every week and leave our reviews/thoughts on the show here. The first one we watched was WCW Road Wild 1998.
If anyone else watches the show, feel free to leave a review.
