We open tonight without the usual pyro display, but instead the pyro of IFW champion Kurt Angle. He comes out to the ring in a suit with the belt over his shoulder, looking very Main Event Mafia. He reaches the ring and is handed a mic.
Angle: "Last week I was taken to the limit by CM Punk. I have no problem admitting that he was every bit as good as I was, and I was lucky to escape with this belt. I gave him all I had and he gave me all he had, and for that, Punk, you earned my respect. However, you lost it by refusing to shake my hand like a man. Punk, our paths will cross again, I'm sure of it, and next time the result won't be the same. Now, I hear Punk isn't in the building just yet so I won't say any more on the subject for the time being, but needless to say, Punk has earned himself a rematch and I'll sign off on it whenever the time comes. Now, the other reason I'm out here isn't so simple. CM Punk isn't the only man with an upcoming title shot, and I want to call out the other so I can look him in the eyes. John Morrison, come on out here."
It takes a while for Morrison to get out to the arena, but he does. Morrison drops the slow motion entrance this time, and doesn't even have the MITB briefcase with him. He rolls into the ring, grabs a mic of his own and then offers a handshake to Angle. Angle accepts.
Angle: "I appreciate that, John." Morrison: "Kurt, I know what you're going to say, so let me save you the trouble. I didn't bring the money in the bank contract out here because I have no intention of cashing it in on you." Angle: "John, I'm sure you understand why I can't just take your word on that. This title belt is the reason I get up in the morning, the reason I keep doing this despite all the injuries I have, all the aches and pains I deal with every minute of every day. Since I was a kid, I've worked my ass off to be the best wrestler in the world, the best ever, and this belt shows that that's exactly what I am. I earned this, John, and I've defended it over and over against the best the business has to offer. Men who have sacrificed and proven themselves to earn a shot. Now I know what you went through to win and to defend that briefcase and I'm not taking anything away from you. I'm a big fan, John, and one day I hope you're on the opposite side of the ring when I defend this belt yet again." Morrison: "Thank you." Angle: "But understand me. I am sick of looking over my shoulder. I am sick of the constant threat that you carry out here week after week, the possibility that you could show up when I've just been in a thirty minute war against a man like Randy Orton or CM Punk and be given a shot. That's not what this title is about." Morrison: "Like I said Kurt, I have no intention of doing that to you. If it was someone else holding that belt? Maybe. Maybe I would. But you...you've been too good for too long for me to disrespect you and all you've worked for like that. I know you may not believe me and I understand, but I'm telling you man to man, I won't cash in that contract until you lose that title. And if you don't lose the title by the time the contract expires, I'll announce to the world right now that I'll cash in on the last possible day, at Destiny on week 37." Angle: "John, I like the sound of what you're saying but as champion I have to be more cautious than that." Morrison: "If my word isn't good enough, what do you want me to do?" Angle: "I can't make you do anything John, but I'm asking you to consider cashing in right here, tonight, in the main event."
Morrison takes a second to think about it, soaking in the reaction from the fans.
Morrison: "That sounds good Kurt...but no. I can't do that. You're still too hurt from last week, and I want to wait until Melina heals up so she can enjoy the moment with me. I hope you understand."
Morrison leaves the ring, dropping the mic on the apron as he goes.
JR: "Oh come on. The people here wanted that main event!" Taz: "And I did too JR, but Morrison's right! He doesn't have to cash in when Kurt Angle tells him to, he chooses when he cashes in!" JR: "So that was an excuse, so he can cash in when Angle's hurt?" Taz: "I'm not saying that. I'm not not saying that, but I'm not saying that either if you know what I mean. Heh heh heh."
We get a little more filler from the announcers until the ring area can be cleared, ready for the first match of the night. The Heatseekers, Curt Hawkins and Lance Archer, head down the ramp and are taken out from behind by the Dudley Boyz. This is becoming a trend. Bully Ray runs Archer into the ring steps while Devon rolls Hawkins into the ring.
Match 1 - Team 3D v Heatseekers: - The brothers beat down Hawkins for the first couple of minutes, using frequent tags and then cutting the ring in half when Archer has recovered enough to get back to the apron. Classic tag strategy. The current tag champions Charlie Haas and Shelton Benjamin are shown backstage watching on a monitor, aware that the winners of this match will likely be in line for the next shot. For the first time in a long time, Hawkins plays the face role as he struggles to make a tag and is repeatedly cut off by an elbow drop or big stomp. Archer tries to urge the fans to get behind his partner, who elbows out of a side headlock only to be dragged back to the canvas by the hair. Hawkins manages to counter a Bubba bomb into a snapmare driver and dives to tag in Archer. Archer cleans house, knocking both Dudleys down a few times each before focusing his attack on the legal Bully Ray while Devon rolls to the outside. Archer's comeback serves as a distraction for Devon to look under the ring and get the tables. He sets one up next to the announce tables and lays the hurt Hawkins on top before rolling back in. The match is secondary for Team 3D now, they just want to hurt the Heatseekers. Devon attacks Archer, giving Bubba a chance to recover a bit, then the brothers hit a double chokeslam style move to Archer over the top ropes and through both Hawkins and the table. Winners: Heatseekers by disqualification
Taz: "Holy God! That was freakin' awesome!" JR: "This is what the Dudley Boyz are all about Taz." Taz: "No doubt no doubt! I know these guys better than anybody, and I can tell ya, only two things make these guys happy. Winning titles and breaking tables." JR: "Well, they did one here tonight but I'm sure the World's Greatest Tag Team will have something to say about the other." Taz: "It's just a matter of time, JR! Just a matter of time."
Somewhere backstage, a girl is looking around like she's lost. She frowns a little as she realises she has no idea where she's going. She is kinda cute though, which catches the attention of the passing Austin Aries.
Aries: "Here I am." Girl: "Excuse me?" Aries: "You want an autograph? Picture? Maybe...hotel room number?" Girl: "No. Thanks. I'm looking for someone." Aries: "I'm right here." Girl: "Um. Sorry, I'm looking for-" Aries: "Austin. Austin Aries. Nice to meet you." Girl: "Oh. My name's Summer." Aries: "I can tell. You're hot." Summer: "Seriously? You think I haven't heard that a million times?" Aries: "Not from me you haven't. Unless...have we met? I kinda lose track, you know?" Summer: "I don't think so." Aries: "Oh, you'd remember. Trust me." Summer: "I'll take your word for that. So, do you know a guy called-" Aries: "Look, Summer. Whatever it is you're doing here, I can assure you it's not as good as what we could be doing elsewhere. How about you let me take you out somewhere?"
Summer seems to take a bit of a liking to Aries for some reason, and after thinking for a bit decides to link arms with him. They turn away and bump into Randy Orton. Who, by the way, isn't wearing any pants.
Orton: "What's this?" Aries: "That's no way to speak to a lady, Randy. This is Summer, say hello like a real person." Orton: "I don't care what her name is Austin. What are you doing with her?" Aries: "I think that's between me and her, don't you?" Orton: "We lost to the Shield last week because they took Cena out, and here you are acting like you don't care." Aries: "To me honest Randy, I don't. Look, I don't like letting them get away with things like this, but what am I gonna do? I'm not booked tonight, so I'm going to rest up and take this fine young lady to eat out." Summer: "Ooh! You're going to take me to a fancy restaurant?" Aries: "Uh...sure. That's what I meant." Orton: "You make me sick. Guys like you taking spaces on the roster, pretending to be elite competitors and showing no passion for this. The Shield put our team mate into the hospital, and you're going to let them get away with it because some rat shows up?" Aries: "Hey! Don't bring her into this! And since when do you care what happens to Cena?" Orton: "Since losing him cost me a big match. I'm here to be the best Austin, to win that IFW championship and prove it. What are you here for? To pick up girls? Grow the hell up and get your head out of your ass." Aries: "What's your problem?" Orton: "You! You're my problem! I shared a ring with you last week, I let you play a part in my match, and now you're showing me what you're really all about. You're an embarrassment. You're a joke." Aries: "A joke?" Orton: "You heard." Aries: "You think I'm a joke? How about we go out there and I show you how much of a joke I am?" Orton: "Gladly."
Orton leaves. Aries snarls with anger.
Summer: "Um. Are we still going out?" Aries: "Sure, just a little later. Stick around, you'll want to see this."
Back to the ring now, where Primo and Epico are joined by their new mentor, Carlito. The three Colóns stand in the ring together, ready for a six man tag. Sierra, Hotel, India, Echo, Lima, Delta. The Shield show up through the audience, surrounding their prey.
Match 2 - The Shield v Los Colóns: - Short match, unsurprisingly. Primo and Epico play whipping boys, Carlito gets a little offence in against Rollins but it's not long before the three of them are put down. Reigns spears Epico for the win. Winners: The Shield
Little celebration from the Shield, just looking mean as they raise their hands.
Vince McMahon is in his office, working at his desk when he gets a knock on his door. John Cena walks in.
McMahon: "Ah, John, come in. I was hoping to speak to you." Cena: "I don't know about that, but I hope you're listening. I want the Shield tonight." McMahon: "They've just had a match John, didn't you see?" Cena: "I don't care Vince, make it happen."
The boss sits back in his chair and sighs as he removes his reading glasses.
McMahon: "John, please understand. This isn't the WWE. You can't just walk in here and make demands like you used to." Cena: "I know! God I know. I've heard that every week since I got here. 'This isn't the WWE,' 'you have to earn it,' 'you aren't the man anymore.' You know me Vince, I'm good for this." McMahon: "You have to work with me here John. I want to give you what you want, but we don't run on your terms anymore. For example, my name is Mister McMahon." Cena: "What? Come on Vince, don't be like that." McMahon: "I'm serious John. This isn't the business you know anymore. Trust me, you will get the Shield, but in time." Cena: "Why? What's the hold up?" McMahon: "Like I told you, they've already competed tonight. And you're not cleared." Cena: "Don't give me that BS! I work hurt all the time!" McMahon: "Not anymore."
Cena half turns and puts his hand to his mouth, then turns back.
Cena: "Angle, then. Give me a shot at Angle." McMahon: "He's just been in here asking for a match against John Morrison. Look, just calm down and be patient. You'll earn a title match and I can give you the Shield-" Cena: "So give me the Shield!" McMahon: "-at Unbroken."
Cena is so pissed that he can't even find the words to argue, so he just clenches his fists in the air at McMahon and leaves. Right outside the door is JTG.
JTG: "John, I need a word." Cena: "Not now!"
Cena walks on. JTG looks to be hitting his limit.
Back in the ring, D'Angelo Dinero is waiting for a PPV rematch against the silver champion. Ezekiel Jackson comes out with Brian Kendrick holding his belt, and wastes little time getting to the ring.
Match 3 - Ezekiel Jackson v D'Angelo Dinero - Jackson also wastes little time securing the victory, making sure to avoid trading right hands with Dinero and instead working the power game to neutralise Dinero's speed advantage. Dinero sidesteps a corner splash to buy himself an opening, but it's short lived as Jackson nimbly ducks the 4up and counters it into the 'book of Ezekiel' uranage slam Winner: Ezekiel Jackson
Dinero rolls out of the ring never to be seen again as Kendrick dances around with the silver title belt. Jackson grabs Kendrick by the oversized jacket and growls something at him. Kendrick complies, getting a microphone from ringside.
Jackson: "I want answers. I'm the silver champion, I'm undefeated. I don't fear challenge, I don't back down from fights, but I do want answers. Otunga, Mahal, get out here and bring your boy with you."
Sure enough, David Otunga shows up on the stage alongside Jinder Mahal.
Otunga: "My client had foreseen this occurrence, and has acted accordingly. Mister Jackson, all will be revealed."
The lights dim and a tense moment passes while Jackson never takes his glare off the entrance. Suddenly music hits and he gets his answer.
Otunga: "Ladies, gentlemen, Mister Jackson...I give you, Heath Slater."
What? Yeah. That's the reaction of the announcers too. Underwhelming.
Slater: "Oh yeaaaaaah baybay! Thank you Davey, Jinder, ya'll been doing great work these past few weeks. I-F-Du-bul-yuuuuu! How y'all feelin' tonight? Yeah! I hear ya, I hear ya. Now Zeke, I see that look on your face. I know what you're thinkin'. But ain't it obvious, man? Ain't it beautiful? Look at me, man! I'm the centre of the freakin' universe! I am what holds this wrestling world together, man, and you Zeke, you are my crown jewel." Jackson: "What are you talking about? Make it quick Heath."
Slater leads Otunga and Mahal to the ring, all three climb in to stand with Jackson and Kendrick.
Slater: "You're a smart man Zeke, I know you see what I see. David Otunga, my Nexus brother. Jinder Mahal, my 3MB brother. And you, Zeke? You're my Corre brother. I'm the centre of this freakin' universe, man! And I'm bringin' it aaaaall back together! I don't need that Wade Barrett thinkin' he runs things. I don't need Justin Gabriel and his talk of singles success, and I sure as hell don't need Drew McIntyre tellin' me he's better than all this. I just need my brothers. I wanna take you all back with me to Dynamite Pro, and Zeke? You're my statement. Taking that silver championship back home? That's something that's never been done, man! When you three become part of Camp Cornette, just imagine how big this band will be!"
Kendrick looks super excited, but Jackson's stoic expression hasn't changed a bit.
Jackson: "I'll make this clear to you, Heath. I'm not interested. The Corre was the worst decision I ever made. I quit, and now I'm on top of the world. You go back to Dynamite Pro, and you take your boys with you."
Jackson shoves past Slater and leaves the ring. Slater is seething mad, and yells at Otunga and Mahal to "get him!" All three men roll out of the ring and start beating down on the silver champion, three on one. Kendrick stays back in the ring, shocked and unsure of what to do. Slater and his boys back off on Slater's signal, leaving Jackson hurt and motionless on the ramp. They leave together while Kendrick heads over to check on his advisor.
Jeremy Borash is backstage in his interview area, alongside the IFW divas.
JB: "Ladies and gentlemen, my guests at this time, Naomi Knight, Gail Kim, Layla and Brie Bella. Naomi, last week we saw you lose your shot at the womens championship after the Nexettes got involved yet again. What are you feelings?" Naomi: "I'm disappointed, JB. This was my chance to put something right for the divas here, and AJ found a way to screw us all. But I gotta stay positive, and if there's one good thing to come of all of this it's that these girls have shown me what sisterhood is all about. Right girls?"
Naomi, Layla and Brie cheer. Yaaaay!
Layla: "That's right. Anyone who stands up to the Nexettes is fine by me. We'll take them down, you just wait." Brie: "This isn't the first time they've screwed us, and it won't be the last. But we're tougher than they think, we aren't giving up." JB: "Do you have any last words for AJ and the Nexettes?" Naomi: "Sure. AJ, I know you didn't show up here tonight because you know the sun shines brightest after the rain. We've already regrouped, and we're stronger than ever. When you decide to show your face, we'll be here waiting."
Naomi leads Layla and Brie away in cheers, but Gail has been stone-faced through the whole interview. She's silent.
Back out to the ring now! John Cena comes out, and he means business. He doesn't do his usual comedy line to the cameraman, he just power walks out to the ring and grabs a mic.
Cena: "Cut the music. Look, I don't show up to arenas like this for fun. I like signing a few autographs and meeting the fans, but I'm here to work. This is my office, this is my career. Now I've been told time and time again that I have to earn title shots. That's fine, I'll earn them, but how can I do that when Vince McMahon won't book me? I'm not cleared? Fine, I'll sign a waiver. I'll work this match unsanctioned. If there's anyone out there with the balls to face me, let's do it."
Who responds? Who else? CM Punk's music kicks and the straight edge saviour struts out.
Punk: "Serious mode tonight, huh? Whatever this is, it must be pretty serious for you to drop the comedy act." Cena: "Are you coming down here to fight or not?" Punk: "Yeah, actually, I am. But first there are a couple of things I need to clear up. Like I have nothing to do with the Shield. Yeah, we crossed paths as they were coming back from the ring and I was going out, and yeah I applauded them on a match well fought, but that proves nothing." Cena: "Cut the crap Punk. We all know what's going on here." Punk: "Actually John, you don't. Just look at me, do I look like a man who needs backup? I took Kurt Angle - the greatest of all time - to his limit last week. I had him beat. If that referee hadn't made a slow count, I'd be the IFW champion right now, and you all know it." Cena: "So what, Punk? You didn't get the job done, so what are you gonna do about it? Your time is up, my time is now. Get in here and I'll prove that I deserve the next title shot." Punk: "No no no John, that isn't going to happen. I will come down there and beat your ass, but it won't be for the number one contendership. No, you heard Kurt earlier tonight, I have a title shot whenever I want it. And I do want it. I want it at Unbroken. So you are just going to have get to the back of the line."
Cena is super pissed now, having to wait another three months or more to get his shot.
Punk: "But back to you. You said you wanted an unsanctioned match, right? So I can do anything I want to you and there's nothing anyone can do about it? You're on."
Punk starts to walk towards the ring, but is cut off by Vince McMahon's music. The chairman swaggers out to the stage.
McMahon: "Woah woah woah, wait just a minute there Punk! If you want to get your hands on Cena, you're going to have to wait just a little bit longer. You see, this isn't the first main event match I've had suggested to me tonight, in fact it's not even the second. Earlier tonight Kurt Angle requested a match against John Morrison and a little later on Randy Orton requested a main event against Austin Aries. Well I had a tough decision to make and I hate to disappoint, so tonight we're going to have all three! John, I've talked to the trainers and they've allowed you to work a six man tag, so that's exactly what we'll do. John Cena, Kurt Angle and Randy Orton taking on CM Punk, John Morrison and Austin Aries. Guys, come on out here!"
Orton is first out, eager to get this match started. He passes Punk without looking at him and joins Cena in the ring. Angle shows up next, acknowledging Punk but not much more. Punk is then joined by his teammates, first Austin Aries and then money in the bank holder John Morrison without his briefcase. Punk's team look like underdogs here, but they're ready for the challenge.
Match 4 - Kurt Angle, John Cena & Randy Orton v John Morrison, CM Punk & Austin Aries - Now the match isn't unsanctioned, Punk isn't quite so interested in working Cena so he leaves the job up to Morrison. Cena takes Morrison down and works him over a little before tagging in Angle. Angle works a respectful style with Morrison, lots of chain wrestling and few strikes. Morrison holds his own, but isn't up to the standard and is caught in a few nasty holds before he can tag out to Aries. Aries takes a cheap shot or two against the champ, an eye rake is simple but effective, and Orton wants the tag. Aries wants no part of Orton so he tags Punk in. The guys cycle in and out, each man getting a little time with each member of the opposing team and it's all good fun. Cena looks to be fighting through whatever injury he got last week pretty well, but Angle and Punk are tired. We get the usual six man tag spot where it all breaks down and everyone takes someone else's finisher. Aries nails Angle with the brainbuster and nearly scores the victory, but Angle kicks out. Aries turns around into an RKO, then Orton takes the flying Chuck kick. Morrison suffers an FU, leaving Cena open to the GTS. Angle then gets back up to connect with the Olympic slam to Punk, before being caught off guard by Aries and lifted up for a second brainbuster. Angle escapes and slides down right into the ankle lock on Aries, who holds on for a little while but has to tap pretty soon. Winners: Kurt Angle, John Cena & Randy Orton
Angle, Cena and Orton have their arms raised, bringing a close to the show but not the various rivalries.
We open tonight without the usual pyro display, but instead the pyro of IFW champion Kurt Angle. He comes out to the ring in a suit with the belt over his shoulder, looking very Main Event Mafia. He reaches the ring and is handed a mic.

And if you don't lose the title by the time the contract expires, I'll announce to the world right now that I'll cash in on the last possible day, at Destiny on week 37."
Angle: "John, I like the sound of what you're saying but as champion I have to be more cautious than that."
Morrison: "If my word isn't good enough, what do you want me to do?"
Angle: "I can't make you do anything John, but I'm asking you to consider cashing in right here, tonight, in the main event."

Morrison leaves the ring, dropping the mic on the apron as he goes.
JR: "Oh come on. The people here wanted that main event!"
Taz: "And I did too JR, but Morrison's right! He doesn't have to cash in when Kurt Angle tells him to, he chooses when he cashes in!"

Orton: "Since losing him cost me a big match. I'm here to be the best Austin, to win that IFW championship and prove it. What are you here for? To pick up girls? Grow the hell up and get your head out of your ass."
Aries: "What's your problem?"
Orton: "You! You're my problem! I shared a ring with you last week, I let you play a part in my match, and now you're showing me what you're really all about. You're an embarrassment. You're a joke."
Aries: "A joke?"
Orton: "You heard."
Aries: "You think I'm a joke? How about we go out there and I show you how much of a joke I am?"
Orton: "Gladly."
Orton leaves. Aries snarls with anger.
Summer: "Um. Are we still going out?"
Aries: "Sure, just a little later.
Match 2 - The Shield v Los Colóns:
- Short match, unsurprisingly.
I was hoping to speak to you."
Cena: "I don't know about that, but I hope you're listening. I want the Shield tonight."
McMahon: "They've just had a match John, didn't you see?"
Cena: "I don't care Vince, make it happen."
The boss sits back in his chair and sighs as he removes his reading glasses.
McMahon: "John, please understand. This isn't the WWE. You can't just walk in here and make demands like you used to."
Cena: "I know! God I know. I've heard that every week since I got here. 'This isn't the WWE,' 'you have to earn it,' 'you aren't the man anymore.' You know me Vince, I'm good for this."
McMahon: "You have to work with me here John. I want to give you what you want, but we don't run on your terms anymore. For example, my name is Mister McMahon."
Cena: "What? Come on Vince, don't be like that."
McMahon: "I'm serious John. This isn't the business you know anymore. Trust me, you will get the Shield, but in time."
Cena: "Why? What's the hold up?"
McMahon: "Like I told you, they've already competed tonight. And you're not cleared."
Cena: "Don't give me that BS! I work hurt all the time!"
McMahon: "Not anymore."
Cena half turns and puts his hand to his mouth, then turns back.
Cena: "Angle, then. Give me a shot at Angle."
McMahon: "He's just been in here asking for a match against John Morrison. Look, just calm down and be patient. You'll earn a title match and I can give you the Shield-"
Cena: "So give me the Shield!"
McMahon: "-at Unbroken."
Cena is so pissed that he can't even find the words to argue, so he just clenches his fists in the air at McMahon and leaves. Right outside the door is JTG.
JTG: "John, I need a word."
Cena: "Not now!"
Cena walks on. JTG looks to be hitting his limit.
Back in the ring, D'Angelo Dinero is waiting for a PPV rematch against the silver champion. Ezekiel Jackson comes out with Brian Kendrick holding his belt, and wastes little time getting to the ring.
Match 3 - Ezekiel Jackson v D'Angelo Dinero
- Jackson also wastes little time securing the victory, making sure to avoid trading right hands with Dinero and instead working the power game to neutralise Dinero's speed advantage. Dinero sidesteps a corner splash to buy himself an opening, but it's short lived as Jackson nimbly ducks the 4up and counters it into the 'book of Ezekiel' uranage slam
Winner: Ezekiel Jackson
I am what holds this wrestling world together, man, and you Zeke, you are my crown jewel."
Jackson: "What are you talking about?
What are you feelings?"
Naomi: "I'm disappointed, JB.
We'll take them down, you just wait."
Brie: "This isn't the first time they've screwed us, and it won't be the last. But we're tougher than they think, we aren't giving up."
JB: "Do you have any last words for AJ and the Nexettes?"
Naomi: "Sure.
Whatever this is, it must be pretty serious for you to drop the comedy act."
Cena: "Are you coming down here to fight or not?"
Punk: "Yeah, actually, I am. But first there are a couple of things I need to clear up. Like I have nothing to do with the Shield. Yeah, we crossed paths as they were coming back from the ring and I was going out, and yeah I applauded them on a match well fought, but that proves nothing."
Cena: "Cut the crap Punk. We all know what's going on here."
Punk: "Actually John, you don't. Just look at me, do I look like a man who needs backup? I took Kurt Angle - the greatest of all time - to his limit last week. I had him beat. If that referee hadn't made a slow count, I'd be the IFW champion right now, and you all know it."
Cena: "So what, Punk? You didn't get the job done, so what are you gonna do about it? Your time is up, my time is now. Get in here and I'll prove that I deserve the next title shot."
Punk: "No no no John, that isn't going to happen.
Match 4 - Kurt Angle, John Cena & Randy Orton v John Morrison, CM Punk & Austin Aries
- Now the match isn't unsanctioned, Punk isn't quite so interested in working Cena so he leaves the job up to Morrison.
