Urgh, was hoping someone would have responded already so I could be lazy again and just quote an answer. Anyways, Pokemon again for me. Loved these ones and as I mentioned previously... if it's not Mario in 2D then I don't care. I miss the original 3 Mario games, even my mother loved playing them.
Mario 64
I love both these games. It's a difficult choice because Gold and Silver are still in this tournament and they are better than Red and Blue, so screw it, I'm voting for Mario 64.

ROUND TWO, MATCH 5
Super Mario 64 (N64)
Round 1: defeated Super Mario Galaxy
Super Mario 64 is a 1996 platform video game developed and published by Nintendo for the Nintendo 64. It was one of the launch games for the console. The game established a new archetype for the 3D genre, much as Super Mario Bros. did for 2D sidescrolling platformers. It is the best-selling game on the Nintendo 64, with more than eleven million copies sold. The game has left a lasting impression on 3D game design, particularly notable for its use of a dynamic camera system and the implementation of its 360-degree analog control. The title is acclaimed by many critics and fans as one of the greatest and most revolutionary video games of all time.
Pokemon Red & Blue (GB/GBC)
Round 1: defeated Mega Man 2
Pokémon Red Version and Pokémon Blue Version are role-playing video games developed by Game Freak and published by Nintendo for the Game Boy. They are the first installments of the Pokémon series. The player controls the protagonist from an overhead perspective and navigates him throughout the fictional region of Kanto in a quest to master Pokémon battling. The goal of the games is to become the champion of the Pokémon League and complete the Pokédex by obtaining the 150 available Pokémon. The games' releases marked the beginning of what would become a multibillion-dollar franchise, jointly selling millions of copies worldwide. In 2009 they appeared in the Guinness Book of World Records under "Best selling RPG on the Game Boy" and "Best selling RPG of all time".
