I don't have one... i'm working on getting the sony... but i wouldn't be shocked if i got a hold of a wii u someday... zelda and mario really know how to bring back nintendo kids of the 80s and 90s.
i don't really know of many games for it that i could suggest... they only have so many exclusives right now and most of them aren't very good... but super smash bros is coming out soon!
Zelda is coming.

arent they all open world though?
whats up with the tank!?
Also... Bayonetta 2. Chux i don't know if we spoke of the first game in the past... i feel like we did but i'm unsure.... it was a pretty good game and i can't believe sony, and microsoft gave up on this... it's a nintendo exclusive.

i love the extra outfits... nintendo rules.
I tried Bayonetta but didn't get into it. I always got the feeling I was doing it wrong.
Not all Zeldas are open world, especially not the recent ones. Skyward Sword had portals into different areas of the map. I think this one is supposed to do away with loading screens, everything is one giant map that loads progressively...like Jak & Daxter did on the PS2. Still, good move!

Ah yeah, it's been a while since i've played a Zelda game.. i think Twilight Princess or Spirit Tracks was the last one.. not sure... either way i see what you are saying and that does sound even better then it was before... it could finally be like Elder Scrolls.
I hope to eventually get a wii-u, but as i've said i want the ps4 first.... but nintendo has that advantage on me as like you and many others that have been apart of 4w... we grew up with NES and Sega.
I still really want a new Metroid game... something more like Super Metroid... the prime series was cool and all and it was neat to try it in FPS mode and shockingly it worked.. probably better then any gamer could have imagined especially the first game of the prime trilogy.
However i think it's time for Metroid to get back to side scrolling but not be watered down like Other M was.
Im loving what ive seen of the Wii U hoping to pick it up in the next couple of months. Its definitely top of my wishlist.
Mario Kart 8 looks fantastic and Super Smash Bros is always good. Might even pick up the 3DS version of Smash Bros.

Thanks Taker_2004 for the banner!
Totally forgot that I made this thread about that ebay deal. Turns out after accepting my offer and paying the guy sent me a message saying he asked his nephew to bring the Wii U to him and the kid "accidentally threw it down the stairs." So he gave a refund that got held up for a few days, I looked around for a new deal and found one about an hour drive away for £130, no games. I figure it's worth it, I got a nearly new Mario Kart for £35ish, so went for it. So after paying another £130 (the £160 was still being processed) the guy tells me he's new to PayPal and doesn't have everything set up to receive the money properly, so he has to refund it and asked if I could pay cash instead. Sigh. Fine. So that refund gets lost in the PayPal ether for a few days too, and I have to take out another £130 from the bank, leaving me over £400 in the hole. Damn you ebay.
Anyway, I got the thing and it's fine. It's nothing groundbreaking, Mario Kart is fun but nothing you haven't played before. But there is an awesome feature that I've taken full advantage of, the Wii U tablet screen. You can load up and play the game entirely on the tablet, it looks just as good as it does on the TV and you don't need to switch channels. It's been perfect for world cup season, I can keep a game on while playing. It does have to be quite close to the Wii U console though, it's not quite strong enough for me to take it to the toilet, the DS still has that market covered. It's cool that they've finally added a defence against the blue shell, everything handles really well and obviously it looks amazing. It's a great game, Mario Kart always is, it's just more of the same and that somehow feels like a bit of a let down.
The character list feels weaker than in older games, there are 30 but most of them are Bowser's kids and baby versions of real characters. I know most of them have the exact same stats as others, but it always annoys me when rosters get weaker as time goes on. No one plays as Birdo, but if Birdo could be in Double Dash, why not this? The kart unlockables are vast, although that's one area they really don't mind cloning. There are about four variations on each kart, wheel and parachute in terms of stats (fast one, heavy one, handling one, average one), but a ton of different designs for each. I've spent ages trying to fine tune my kart for perfect balance, only to find I'm flicking between two of essentially the exact same kart. You unlock a red wheel that looks like it should be something special, but it's literally just a red version of a wheel you have at the start. And yet no Birdo! The anti-gravity style courses look great on replays but you get kinda lost in them while playing and don't fully take in that you're upside down, making them basically moot. Remember how on the N64 you could half-use an item, kinda dragging it behind you, and then pick up a second item? They used a similar mechanic with the dual-driver gimmick in Double Dash. Well that's gone. You can still carry the item behind you, but you can't pick up another one at the same time. And older games were a lot more generous in the lag between using an item and picking up a new one, so you could let a banana skin go right as you hit an item box to minimise your down time. Not anymore. It may only be a fraction of a second, but it's noticeable.
You get used to the problems, it's an easy game to get pretty good at. I used Yoshi with one of the first karts for the whole game because every time I tried to use an unlocked "upgrade" it would feel all wrong and I'd lose. You unlock new racers for getting gold on the 50cc and 100cc cups, but absolutely nothing for getting gold on 150cc. It's hard, sometimes to the point of being a total screwjob (but what's new in Mario Kart?) and you get nothing for it. Oh, except if you get all golds on 150cc, you unlock...you'll never guess. Mirror mode! Oh, you did guess? Yeah... Also they do the same gimmick again, using old tracks for half of the cups. I also hear a lot of criticism over the lack of battle arenas, instead the battles are done race style on the normal tracks. I don't know if this is a problem or not because I have no friends.
So all in all this is 80% stuff you've played before. All Mario games are, I guess, but this one really hit me as nothing new at all. It's far from being a bad game, it may even be worth buying a Wii U for, just don't expect too much after you beat the new Rainbow Road. That's literally the end of the new content.
You know, in this age of DLC, they should really considering releasing more nostalgia circuits. They release 16 new ones for each game and dig up 16 old ones, meaning you're not going to play most of the new ones again for a long, long time. There were some great ones on Mario Kart 7 that would translate really well to HD. Ah well.

The bottom part about DLC and classic courses... i agree that's a good idea... FPS do that all the time they re-release maps from previous games that were extremely popular in dlc sets with usually 3 brand new maps and one classic.
i do like the idea of that touch pad...
Ok, so I've decided to bite the bullet and buy a Wii U. Mario Kart 8 is out and looks unbelievably good, so I have no choice. Fortunately I found a decent deal on ebay, second hand Wii U with Mario Bros for £160 best offer, down from £175, and I'll see what I can get MK8 for second hand too, it's £40 new. A new console bundled with MK8 is £280ish, plus Mario Bros would have put it well over £300, so not a bad deal overall.
Has anyone here already got one? The library looks a little weak right now. Nintendo consoles are really only for Nintendo games these days and there's only so many rehashes of 2D Mario games I can stand. I don't need Wind Waker, did that on the Cube, and I don't think there are any plans for a Pokémon game. So what else is worth playing on this thing?
