The Revenant - What a boring movie. It has a few cool parts and the visuals are amazing. But as far as the story goes. Its just a boring movie. Its really long. Definitely an overrated movie in my opinion. I've been hearing for a while what a great movie this was. But it was dull and boring. It does have a cool bear attack in it though. I guess I could see how some of the outdoorsy type folk would like a movie like this.
Gravity - This has Sandra Bullock and George Clooney in it. Was a really good movie. About a space crew that runs into disaster while out working on the International Space Station. The movie is just go go go the whole time. It was a really fun watch. Definitely recommend this!

You either got those two movies mixed up or you need to look in the dictionary of the definition of boring.
Gravity was boring as shit, and The Revenant was amazing.

I liked both films. Gravity though seemed like one of those films that was good in a cinema because of the size. Not watched it on a TV and I don't image it would look the same - like Interstellar, which was so much better in the cinema than on TV. You lose something on just a 40 inch. Maybe I'll change my mind when I get a 60 inch TV and everything looks huge.
Just wasn't my type of movie with the Revenant I guess. Slow and boring for the most part. The sets and every looked amazing though. I've heard alot of people say they think the Revenant is boring af.

The Revenant is a mixed bag for sure. Watched it with my girlfriend and she found it boring whilst I enjoyed it.
Matchstick Men - Great movie. Not usually a Nick Cage fan but this is probably the best I've seen from him. Glad I gave it a shot.
Daddy's Home - Usually love Will Ferrell , but this just fell flat. Very few laughs. John Cena makes a cameo at the end. I hear they are making a second one.
Jack Reacher - Tom Cruise is my favorite actor but this movie was boooooooring. It is like a movie that never really got started. Why did they feel the need to make a second one? Did people really like the first one that much?

Angels and Demons - I read the book a long time ago and finally got around to watching the movie. These movies based on Dan Brown books have gotten alot of shit. I don't see why on this one. This was pretty interesting the whole time. Maybe its because I like this stuff? But I enjoyed the film. Reading the books I never though of Robert Langdon to look like Tom Hanks though. Now I do though.
The Da Vinci Code - This one deserves the shit it gets. This wasn't that good at all. I found myself uninterested and bored through the whole thing. Now that I look back upon it, the Da Vinci Code might be Brown's most popular work, but I did enjoy the Angels and Demons book better. But The Da Vinci Code was an awesome book but the movie really sucked.
Days of Thunder - Classic movie. Rewatched it yesterday, Tom Cruise is my favorite actor and I just love this movie. It has a low rating on Rotten Tomatoes and I don't understand why. Maybe its cuz people don't like racing?
Dr. Strange - I'm not a super hero guy but I decided to put this on last night before I went to bed. Wow did I enjoy this one. Are they going to be making more movies about Dr. Strange? Probably one of the better super hero movies I have ever watched.

Rewatched Catch Me If You Can. Stellar performances from DiCaprio, Hanks, Walken. I just love this movie. It never gets old.

All Eyez On Me.
Good casting choices, it was good for what it was. Straight Outta Compton, basically the same type of movie, was better.

Was in the midst of a Friday the 13th marathon off and on the past two weeks or so... made it up to part 6 of the 12 movies. i'll rate them here.
Part 1. 8/10
part 2. 6/10
part 3. 8/10
part 4. 9/10
part 5. 5/10
part 6. 7/10
These are all recent watches:
Power Rangers (2017): I heard a fair bit of criticism about this movie but personally I loved it. They took all the stuff I loved from the original series and made it less campy and more serious and realistic, but it still had it's fair share of goofy moments. I thought the casting choices were good, I liked the cameo at the end (I won't spoil it) and the post-credits scene was.... very interesting. I look forward to a sequel. 8/10
Philadelphia (1993): One of Tom Hanks' probably most dramatic roles and he was superb throughout this movie. Denzel Washington was also very good. It's an emotional, packed-punch movie that says alot about how we perceived gay people and AIDS back then, and to a certain extent, even today. There was one scene in particular, where Hanks' character is explaining what Opera means to him to Denzel Washington's character and it is a powerful, emotional scene and probably the best in the whole movie. 10/10
High Fidelity (2000): Based on a Nick Hornby novel (whick I have not read). It was a somewhat funny, kinda quirky movie about a guy who is trying to deal with the break up with his girlfriend by going back and looking at past failed relationships. John Cusack stars and Jack Black is also in this movie. It was pretty decent, some funny moments, but it did feel a bit throwaway. 6.5/10
Stranger Than Fiction (2006): Personally, I think this is Will Ferrell's best movie. He is an IRS agent living his life when he starts hearing a narrator talking about his life as if he is a character in a novel. Very funny at times, dramatic at others, it kept me intrigued throughout and I was satisfied with the ending. 8/10
Unbreakable (2000): Bruce Willis and Samuel L Jackson star in what is basically a superhero movie in which Bruce Willis seems to have some sort of ability not to get hurt. Of course, there are holes in this theory and the majority of the movie is about studying and proving or disproving this theory. It is a fantastic movie with great performances from Willis and Jackson. Personally, I think this is M. Night's most underrated movie and it is topped off, like most M Night movies, with what I thought was a fantastic twist. 8.5/10

Wonder Woman (2017): Much better than other DC movies like Suicide Squad and BvS. It had a good mixture of fish out of water comedy and thrilling action. Without saying too much, go watch this movie. It's the first in the DC Universe that's truly great. 9/10

Matchstick Men - Great movie. Not usually a Nick Cage fan but this is probably the best I've seen from him. Glad I gave it a shot.
I love this film. Really entertaining turns from Cage, Lohman and Rockwell; solid direction and smart pacing; etc.
Speaking of solid direction...
Baby Driver
This is a film I recommend to basically every adult I know. One of the best films I've seen in years.... not to mention the first cinema experience since pre-transition. (Former self went to the cinema to see Dark Knight Rises.) Every element of this film comes together sooo well. Direction is above-and-beyond. Cinematography, acting, dialogue, soundtrack, pacing, foreshadowing, callbacks, drama, humor, action... fucking Kevin Spacey. And Ansel Elgort. And Jamie Foxx. And Jon Hamm. Flea's small role. So on and so on. The romance was a bit flat, but worked well enough. I think this had more to do with the love interest than anything. Actress is okay, but not great in this one.
Any case... can't recommend this film highly enough.

Spiderman: Homecoming
This is probably the best Spiderman movie since Spiderman 2. Holland is a great Spiderman and Peter Parker, he is the youngest yet and because of that it feels authentic. Keaton was also great as the antagonist (no spoilers). 9/10
The Wall
War film set in 2007 Iraq as John Cena and Aaron Taylor-Johnson are two soldiers trapped behind a wall by an Iraqi sniper (who is communicating with them via radio). It's very Phonebooth for most of the film, has a cast of just three (one of whom is just a voice) and it was thrilling and a really good film - although the ending was a ... questionable choice. I understand why it was made but not sure if I love it. Nevertheless, Cena and Johnson both put in great performances. 7/10

Get Out
One of the best horror films I've seen in years. Most horrors suck these days, this one definitely does not. 8/10

Memento
Really good film that feels unique and fresh (despite being 17 years old) and it plays out in a way that you know the plot from the beginning but you are still questioning it throughout the movie. 8/10
T2: Trainspotting
It's a sequel that doesn't ruin the legacy of the first, which is nice. I kinda saw the ending coming, but I still enjoyed the movie. 7/10

The Prestige
Another great Nolan film with great performances throughout. As expected, it comes with it's fair share of twists, so I won't say anything about the plot specifically, but it's a film about magicians and it was great. Captivating from the first minute to the last. The funny thing is, all the answers in the movie are there in plain sight, you just don't look for them. 9/10

The Founder - Its a movie about Ray Kroc, the dude who made McDonalds the huge powerhouse it is today. Michael Keaton plays Ray Kroc and it is an interesting movie. I knew alot about this already. I don't know how accurate the movie is, but it was a good movie.
Butter - Has Jennifer Garner in it. It's pretty funny. I didn't expect much from it, but it was an enjoyable movie.

Arrival
Good film. Seemed very well thought out, but one of those that now it's been seen... I don't need to watch it again. So whilst good, it's not one of those "rewatchable good" films. 7/10
What Happened To Monday
A solid 9/10, pushing into being a 10/10. If you have Netflix then watch this film. Naomi Rapace plays seven characters in the film and is excellent throughout. Real top quality from Netflix.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2
Great sequel. Batista is fantastic in these movies man, he is such a good actor when given the correct role. And overall, it's a great cast and a great mix of action and comedy. I also think the sequel is slightly better than the original. 9/10

Edge of Seventeen - 7.5/10
mother! - 8/10
The Greatest Showman - 9/10
Black Panther - 7/10
Red Sparrow - 8/10
4w Poster of the Month - November 2005
Thor Ragnarok
Damn fun movie IMO! Nice to get different styles into the MCU and this was particularly entertaining with the slightly understated humour. My only real gripe was how they handled Scurge. I might be wrong, but I don't think he ever really had a redemption story, he was always just a mid level minion with a far higher opinion of himself than he deserved! Still only a minor gripe, and Karl Urban played it so well I didn't even realise it was him to begin with!
Other than that, I really enjoyed it! 8/10

12 Angry Men - 10/10 (1957)
Star Wars: The Last Jedi - 8/10
Thor: Ragnarok - 8/10
Ready Player One - 8/10
Avengers: Infinity War - 9/10
Probably a ton more I'm forgetting.

Watched Train to Busan last night. Great, great movie. It actually made me care about the people and not root for horror and chaos like I normally do. IMO, it does to zombie movies what Let The Right One In did to vampire movies.

The Martian - Really awesome film here. I just was so into it the whole time, the whole concept of the film is awesome. It was one of those films where you just didn't want it to end. Probably my favorite movie I have seen Damon in. Well that or Good Will Hunting. Worth a watch i you haven't seen it.
Jurassic World - This was okay. I always like Jurassic Park, but never went bonkers for it like alot of people did. I think this was on par with the original. Had all the elements the first one had. I like the mentions of Jurassic Park in Jurassic World too.
Hacksaw Ridge - What an amazing movie. This movie had some of the best war scenes I have ever watched in a movie. Shit was awesome. Its about a kid who enlists, but its against his beliefs to hold a weapon. I was weary about the movie going in, thinking it was going to be lame. But it ended up being really really good!
Creed - Very well done also. I hear they are making a Creed 2 now also! I'm a huge fan of any type of Rocky movie. The one thing this film was missing was some really epic training montages though!
Rogue One - Finally got around to watching this one. I may have over hyped myself for it. While it was a good film, it just wasn't anything over overwhelmingly spectacular. The ending battle sequence was pretty cool though. Look forward to seeing more of these side story films in the future.
