MITB news

Main Event

As noted earlier, there has been a lot of speculation that WWE will be holding three Money in the Bank ladder matches at the PPV this year. They have already announced a joint brand men's and women's matches and the latest rumors suggest that the third match - if it happens - would be something radically different: a tag team MiTB ladder match with teams from both brands.

So there's plans to be three matches that are all joint brand. Currently only two, but seeing loads of speculation that there'll be a third.

1 - mens MITB match
2 - womens MITB match
3 - possibly a tag MITB match

Seriously, just end the brand split. News like this doesn't help it. But, I actually prefer the matches like this. Would rather see just these three matches than one for each brand, and I'm sure I'm not the only one that thinks that. End the brand split and the singles divisions for men and women would be much stronger, and the tag division would be interesting. And it makes PPVs like MITB put on matches like this without crossing the brands over.

As I said though, I do like that they're planning on doing the MITB matches like this.

I doubt they'll do a tag team MITB, but the other two MITB matches SHOULD be dual-branded. Imagine if they had four seperate (or six if you include tags) MITB matches, it would be ridiculous.

Ending the brand split would make everything worse. When they ended it last time, it was lame. Matches like Money in the Bank, Survivor Series and Royal Rumble will always be dual-branded, so I don't really see what the issue is. You even said you prefer it this way lol.

Ending the brand split last time wasn't lame... the last brand split was shit. Best thing they did was end it. I also wouldn't complain at them ending the split this time... but they'll keep it going as long as they can. Definitely won't be any time soon, even though they are now joining PPVs. Move on Ninj, it's not gonna happen.

As for the topic, this is a hilarious update:

-- According to Bryan Alvarez on Wrestling Observer Live, WWE is indeed planning a tag team Money in the Bank match but have held off on announcing it because there's so much time (nearly six weeks) until the PPV takes place.

-- Alvarez adds that the original plan was for Kurt Angle to announce all three MitB matches to open Raw but that idea was scrapped since they didn't want to reveal everything so far in advance. Promos were generally not re-written which would explain why some of the tag teams strangely spoke of the MitB match despite no announcement.

Too far in advance? It's 6 weeks... build the fucking thing up. Get interest. They'll announce it like a week before or something and by that point no one will be interested. There's less PPVs now, so more time between the events. Build them up! Use the time you have to create a story and interest. Fuck me, WWE need new writers and decision makers if this is right. They really need to build up PPVs better... Backlash didn't give me much interest and they can't just go into MITB using it's name value as a previously good PPV. Get building towards it more than a week or two in advance. Although I wouldn't put it past WWE writers to mess up 6 weeks of booking... making everyone bored of it or just lose interest. I swear they used to be able to do these things so much better.

I think giving a week or so to announce the FIRST EVER Tag Team MitB match is a good idea.

I also think this is the perfect solution to a brand split, do people think that MLB should not have an American League, and a National League even though the teams still play cross-divisional game? Same with many other sports as an example. Big Shows are special, they need a reason to be special, and them having the best of both brands, is special.

Once a man would spend a week patiently waiting if he missed a stage coach, but now he rages if he misses the first section of a revolving door.

I think you’re forgetting how bad it was. SmackDown was just a recap show. I didn’t watch SD for two years and I never missed anything inportant.
