It's a fairly good card so far. Only two that I really don't care to see in the slightest. Reigns vs Lesnar AGAIN, and the Fabulous Moolah Memorial Battle Royal which is just a plan to get every woman on the card whether they deserve to be or not.

Mid Card

Thoughts:

I hope the IC title match gets a good amount of time on the main show. Finn Balor's star is rising and they could tear the house down.

Asuka vs Charlotte should be best women's WM match evar.

Apparently Steph dresses like a dominatrix now?

Fingers crossed Lesnar/Reigns doesn't close the show.

Rumour is that the smackdown tag titles will be up for grabs too. The Usos against The New Day and the Bludgeon Brothers in a TLC match apparently!

Apparently there was a leak on the WWE app saying the match was gonna be a TLC match, though the leak was quickly deleted.

I've updated the card listing.

So from the last time I updated it, it's hilarious that they've changed the name of the womens battle royal... particularly because they changed it over allegations that she was a pimp and had some very outspoken views... which then had people asking why they still did the whole Warrior thing considering he had a load of very controversial views which he never apologised for.

They've also not removed Shane McMahon from the card listing, despite him apparently being very ill and not going to make the event. But if that is legit, I expect that will change once they've decided what to do.

Rusev has been removed from the battle royal pre-show and added to the US Title scene.

I'm also disappointed that they couldn't find anything better for Strowman to do than to go after the tag team titles. After the year he's had, he deserves better. So to make it better, I'm hoping that he doesn't bother with a tag team partner and goes for it on his own.

Glad I wasn't excited for this at all.

Still annoys me that they didn't advertise Cena vs Taker. Why? Why wouldn't you advertise that? Sure, we all knew it was likely to be happening, but why not advertise it? And I'm pretty sure that Takers entrance was longer than the actual match. Would have prefered not to actually see any of it and had a bit longer on one of the other matches.

Strowman match disappointed me as well. Selecting a "fan" doesn't seem very in-character for him. Would have prefered to see him go at it alone, which he pretty much did anyway. But remove the "fan" bullshit. Could have been a place for someone else, someone that deserves to be on the card properly, even if they just had Braun tell them to leave it all to him. Would be kind of funny to watch someone just taking it easy on the sidelines because they're told by Braun to just leave it all to him. Not sure why I'd find that funny, but it's better than picking someone who looks like a child.

Some real surprise results though. Totally didn't expect Asuka to lose. So that was a real shock. I like Charlotte so not going to complain about her retaining.

Expected Styles to retain, because as I told my mate, I can't see them changing both main titles (although my logic was on them changing both the main titles for the women as well, so that would have been four main title changes which would have been crazy). So totally expected Styles to win. Then there was Lesnar vs Reigns, and I don't think anyone saw this result. This was billed as the most obvious result of the night, which could have been why they decided not to go with it, but I like the decision. Although it's not good when you're that happy that someone hasn't won, and not because it was a proper surprise.

Overall, it was pretty average, but definitely better than some of the recent Manias.

I should also add that I was actually really impressed with Rousey. Didn't think I would be, but she had a really good debut. Hopefully she can improve on the mic and not come across so awkward because it looks like her in-ring work will be pretty stellar. Only downside really was having Steph counter Rondas armbar. Just no. You can't have someone like Ronda come in, with her background that everyone knows about and expect people to believe that Steph could counter her giving an armbar. But that's not really a problem with her ability, and she really impressed.

You missed the whole point of the story. Undertaker got into Cena's head so much that when he finally showed up, Cena went in all guns blazing and got his ass handed to him. He kept going on about how he wasn't scared of Undertaker but clearly when Undertaker finally showed up he was terrified, and it bit him on the ass.

They were never going to give him a partner, clearly. The kid thing was just to get him over as Hulk Hogan 2018, which totally fits his character. He's been the most over face in WWE for months except for Daniel Bryan.

Although it's not good when you're that happy that someone hasn't won, and not because it was a proper surprise.

If you didn't know it was going to happen, then it's a proper surprise lol.

WrestleMania 34 Full Review:

Men's Battle Royal - 1 star
This was pure filler. The ending was the only interesting part. I'm intrigued to see where Bray/Matt goes from here.

Alexander vs Ali - 2.5 stars
A decent Cruiserweight bout. Some nice spots. Some good face v face storytelling... nothing to write home about. Cedric Alexander deserves the title win.

Women's Battle Royal - 1 star
I feel the same way about the Men's counterpart. Just filler stuff. Sasha v Bayley moment was nice. Unexpected winner (a theme that will continue through the night).

Miz vs Rollins vs Balor - 3.5 stars
A very good triple threat. All three had a good showing. Personally, I thought Rollins winning to become Grandslam Champion after a very good opening match was the perfect way to open the main show. Good stuff.

Charlotte vs Asuka - 4 stars
This was personally my match of the night. Two of the best women wrestlers in the world duking it out. Charlotte winning was something I had a feeling could happen (although I didn't actually predict she would win). It was a great match that showed women will one day main event WrestleMania. Charlotte will likely be in that match. I think Charlotte Flair is the best woman wrestler in the world, possibly of all time.

Orton vs Mahal vs Roode vs Rusev - 2 stars
This match was fine. It just sort of happened. I don't really remember enjoying anything in particular and Jinder Mahal was probably my last choice to win. Again, WWE subverting those expectations. I think Jinder Mahal as US Champion has potential to be good, since he's at a more accurate place on the card, but it doesn't really excite me.

Ronda/Angle vs HHH/Stephanie - 3.5 stars
First of all, Angle entrance was so awesome to see. Second of all, Ronda Rousey was very impressive. Yes, she botched a suplex. Yes, she was a bit sloppy - but it was her first match. She also showed that she will nail this industry when she gets a couple matches under her belt. Very good showing by Ronda, thoroughly enjoyed her stuff. Angle and HHH delivered well too. Overall it was a classic fun WrestleMania match. It was meant to highlight Ronda Rousey and that's exactly what it did.

The Usos vs New Day vs Bludgeon Brothers - 2 stars
Honestly, this match was pretty disappointing. It did have some nice spots, hence the two stars, but really, it was a dull match. The only thing I remember is the finish. Bludgeon Brothers winning I am fine with, I hope they go into a feud with AOP. Nevertheless, the match was definitely disappointing.

Undertaker vs John Cena - 2.5 stars
As a match, this wasn't really anything. A squash essentially. As a piece of storytelling however, I loved it. For weeks, John Cena has been smug, some would say over confident, even arrogant about Undertaker. He's said some insulting things and Undertaker has made him stew like a tantruming child. Then, Undertaker shows up and Cena realises "shit, what have I gotten myself into?" Cena runs in head first and is immediately owned. His whole plan backfires. He took Undertaker for granted and was humiliated. Fantastic story telling. Not a great match, but a great WrestleMania moment. Could also be a catalyst (I'm not holding my breath) for a Cena heel turn.

Bryan & Shane vs Owens & Zayn - 3.5 stars
A very fun match. It was so awesome seeing Bryan back in action and it was great to see him finally get some revenge after two years of shit from a whole selection of wrestlers, Owens and Zayn though being the scapegoats. Not much else to say. It was a good match. I enjoyed it.

Alexa Bliss vs Nia Jax - 2.5 stars
This match was never going to be a master class. But I think it was servicable. Told a good redemption story for Nia Jax. I think she will be a good champion, and I don't think she deserves the amount of negative feedback she gets. Either way, it was a decent match. Nothing special.

AJ Styles vs Shinsuke Nakamura - 3.5 stars
To me, the reaction around this match reminds me of the release of The Last Jedi. In that because it didn't live up to the expectactions we had built in our minds, that that meant it was a bad match. Personally, I thought it was a good match. It wasn't a great match. It certainly wasn't the WrestleMania classic I was expecting - but it definitely wasn't a bad match. It had some good near falls, some good back and forth, but ultimately, it was a bit of a let down (doesn't mean it was bad). Styles retaining surprised me, especially after Asuka lost. WWE once again being unpredictable. The aftermath however, made up for it somewhat, with Nakamura's heel turn making this feud suddenly VERY interesting.

Strowman & ??? vs The Bar - 1 star
A lot of people joked Strowman would pick Ellsworth as a tag partner, purely as a technicality. Sure, the whole kid in the crowd thing was absolutely ridiculous, but if you think about it, it's the same thing: it was just a tag partner for the sake of one, a technicality. Either way, it was still a weird choice, and the match was nothing. So it gets 1 star.

Lesnar vs Reigns - 3.5 stars
I quite enjoyed this match. It was brutal, like we thought it would be. Once again, WWE was unpredictable. Everyone and their mother thought Reigns was winning this. Honestly, I like that Lesnar retained, because after that busted open spot on Reigns - and Reigns kicking out of FIVE F-5's... it was realistic that Lesnar would come out on top. The match was littered with brutal moves - and it was essentially exactly what I expected, minus the fact that Lesnar came out on top.

Overall - 3.5 stars
For me, this WrestleMania was just better than WrestleMania 33, and WAY better than WrestleMania 32. So it's an upwards trend. It wasn't perfect. A lot of expectations were subverted, sometimes I liked that, sometimes I didn't. However, this Mania was above average, for sure. It had plenty of fun WrestleMania moments, and some good matches. Not a standout WrestleMania five star classic, mind you, but we did get Charlotte vs Asuka, which was really, really good in my opinion and definitely match of the night.

3.5 stars for WrestleMania 34.

I don't think I did. Undertaker vs Cena is a Wrestlemania match that should be advertised. I stand by preferring not seeing it and giving more time to another match. Although in fairness, I'd have been pissed if I'd bought tickets to Mania to see those to face off and to have it last only 3 minutes. Maybe that's why they didn't advertise it, so that people can't be pissed at how short it was.

Yeah still don't like it. The guy is a face because he's an absolute beast. Hate the change in character where he cares about fans. Not that I'm surprised that they've done it. Reigns was over when he was just kicking ass and destroying people when they broke the Shield up, then they had him making jokes that he couldn't deliver. Still would have preferred him to not have had a partner. Just say he couldn't find one. Not like they've not had someone wrestle in a tag match on their own before because someone got injured or something.

Missed my point. It was a proper surprised. Great. That's what I should be happy about. But I'm more happy that Reigns didn't win, not that I was actually surprised. That's not right and just shows how little interest I have in Reigns being champion. Well, how little interest I have in Reigns vs Lesnar really, as we've seen it enough. Whereas if you take the Styles vs Nakamura match, I was fully confident that Styles was retaining. Not a single doubt about it. So if Nakamura had won, that also would have been a proper surprise, and I'd be happy that it was a proper surprise. But it'd be a different feeling to the result of Lesnar vs Reigns. Shut up, it makes sense in my head!

Best two matches on the card, along with the Rousey match. Was actually a great way to start Mania, considering I hadn't bothered with any of the pre-show shit. It's almost a shame that the bar was set so early in the night as everyone else had to follow these good matches. Can't decide which I'd pick as my match of the night though, as I enjoyed them both.
