Although the last couple of years, they have sucked more often than they have been great, but that's just WWE in general.

I can't. They make it out like it's the biggest wrestling event every year, but every year it seems to become less about wrestling and more about being an event. I really want it to be good, I do. It just isn't. They've gotten lazy and just want to "make history" all the time. Make history by putting on a great show instead, then I'll be happy.
Other PPVs shouldn't end up as being better than Mania. One or two I can accept, but not when there's so many more of them that are better.

It's true some matches are crammed together and eventually end up sucking, but we do get great matches too. Even last year AJ v Shane was good, Tag Ladder Match was good, Rollins v HHH also.

I'll tell you what would help: stop shoving everyone into the card. What ever happened to earning your Wrestlemania spot? Everyone gets on it these days for the pay day that it brings, and the try and cram everyone in so that they don't miss out on it. Make them earn the spot. If someones not doing well enough, why should they be there? Use it as an incentive to improve and push themselves further.

There, I said it. I hate this time of year in WWE. I hate Wrestlemania. It's full of lazy booking and the event is a letdown year after year.
Let me go further this with though before anyone complains about that first part.
Lazy booking
There's been some good shit with Cena this year, I'll give them that. His promo's have been pretty great as he's been serious and they're making it into a big deal. The Rousey stuff has been entertaining when they actually talk, but this is also one that has suffered from lazy booking in parts. The lazy booking that I speak off? The dreaded point at the Wrestlemania sign.
I can picture the writers in the back loving this time of year, as they talk amongst each other over whether they should earn some money this month by writing a banging promo or whether they should just have someone come out and point at the Wrestlemania sign.
- Rousey first appearing would have been epic if she'd done more than just point at that sign. Book her to kick some ass, even just say one line and I'd be happy.
- Asuka at Fastlane just pissed me off. I'm happy that it'll be Asuka vs Charlotte as that'll be a great match, but that was just lazy booking at Fastlane however you look at it. No one wanted to write her a promo (even though she's not great at them)? No one thought it would be good idea to have a bit more than they did? They could have had Charlotte do the promo and just say no or something to get some heel heat for it.
The whole sign pointing thing probably annoys me more than anything. We all get it, you're going to Wrestlemania. No surprise there. Not selling it to me though by just pointing at a fucking sign.
Moments
Some Wrestlemania moments are good. The Rock vs Hogan, even though I can't stand Hogan, was spectacular. The crowd was on fire, you could feel it through the screen. It wasn't about the match, it was the moment. These I can deal with. These are the moments that Wrestlemania should be going for.
Having celebrities appear for shit segments aren't Wrestlemania moments that people care about.
Stupid shit like having Daniel Bryan lose in 20 or so seconds to create a Wrestlemania moment is not something I can deal with. It's a shit moment. I don't know anyone that thought that was a good idea.
Atrocities like what they've done with Big Show in years gone by, like that Sumo match. Just no. Completely devalues the Wrestlemania name to me.
Matches like Cole vs Lawler to create a Wrestlemania moment should lead to writers being fired. Which leads me onto the next part.
The matches
Touched upon above, but not all are to "create moments". Some are just absolute shit. This is the biggest event of the year. Costs more for tickets, costs more to advertise surely, definitely costs more to set up the arena given that it's now the only PPV with a proper stage and different entrances for some wrestlers. So why don't we get the matches to go with it?
Some years you think this is shaping up to be great, but then someone in booking as a stroke or something and decides that they'll book them into a boring match. "These guys can really go, they gel well together and could have a 5 star match, so let's make it slow and boring so that everyone is excited for the main event." AJ Styles vs Nakamura had better be good is all I'm saying! I've seen them wrestle before and it was amazing. Don't expect them to reach that level in WWE, but hopefully something close. Given their past booking decisions on Wrestlemania matches, my confidence isn't that high.
I want matches to remember. Triple H, Shawn Michaels and Chris Benoit triple threat level of remembering. That was a great match. Probably asking a lot there though. I want to be entertained from the first match to the last. Not left wondering when the event will end and whether any match will make this a good one.
When rating PPVs though, Wrestlemania should be at the top every year. It isn't, which is just sad.
It's my own fault, but also Japans
It's my own fault really. I love Wrestle Kingdom too much. The guys in Japan know how to put on an event. They do exactly what I want Wrestlemania to be. Wrestle Kingdom 12 didn't have a match that you'd class as below 3 stars. Most would have been 4 or higher. When was the last time we had that with Wrestlemania? The last few Wrestle Kingdoms have been like this where there's not a bad match on the card. It looks good to begin with and then they delivery. Wrestlemania can look good to begin with and then I'm disappointed and bored.
My standards are too high, I know that. I just expect and want better from Wrestlemania. All they've done in recent years is make me hate the event more and more every year. And seeing NJPW do what WWE should be doing just makes me hate Wrestlemania even more.
So there
So there, I said it. I hate Wrestlemania and the whole Wrestlemania season. They give you some good, but no where near enough and it's filled with lazy booking and will be a letdown. Will I watch it? Yes, in the hope that some matches will be worth it. Will I be letdown? Most certainly, but this year I hopefully won't be let down by their booking of the one match I want to see - AJ Styles vs Nakamura.
