Mahal v Lesnar - Survivor Series

As advertised, WWE Champion Jinder Mahal issued his challenge for an opponent at the upcoming WWE Survivor Series pay-per-view during Tuesday night's episode of WWE SmackDown Live.

"The Modern Day Maharaja" spoke about being received as a hero while in India over the weekend doing promotional work ahead of WWE's tour of the country in December, but not getting the same respect in the United States.

From there, Mahal would go on to challenge WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar to a match at the joint-brand pay-per-view on November 19th in Houston, Texas, only to be interrupted by AJ Styles, who boasted about the fact that Mahal has never defeated him.

While the rest of the action focused on Mahal-Styles, it appears that the seed has been planted and the early hype for a Mahal-Lesnar showdown at next month's PPV has begun. It's worth noting that Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter recently reported that while Mahal-Lesnar is on the books for Survivor Series, the current plan is for neither the WWE Championship or the WWE Universal Championship to be on-the-line in the match.

If they go their favourite route of trying to make both look strong by an interference win or something, then they fail. Lesnar should destroy him. Fans would love it as well... because Mahal is a shit champion. It's mainly all down to booking, like usual, but he's been poor. This is the first time they've done a champion vs champion match where I've solidly wanted one guy to win dominantly.

I hate it. It helps neither man and is just a waste of time.

It's a pointless match that will either make Lesnar look weak or Mahal stronger than he's been booked so far (which they won't capitalise on). I'd be very surprised if they go with a dominant Lesnar win, which they really should go with, even though that helps neither man, like Rhys said. Shit match up really and one just to drive home that on join PPV's, there can be inter-roster matches that no one cares about. Would rather see two title matches where one is good and the other is Mahal's usual shit.

I fully expect Lesnar to win in 6 minutes or less.

Only way the match doesn't suck. Only way I can see even someone like Lesnar pulling a good match out of Mahal is doing what he did to Cena, a one-way ticket to suplex city. Sadly that does nothing for the WWE Title, but then Mahal does nothing for it anyway. Apart from maybe in India. Or maybe not even there.

Can you really say a 6 minute match pitting World Champion vs World Champion doesn't suck though? I'd say that sucks pretty bad.

Depends how you look at it. Sure, if you look at is as champion vs champion, it sucks. But if you choose to look at it as Lesnar destroying Mahal, then it's going to be fun. Although it makes the Smackdown champion look weak as fuck, and by proxy anyone that Mahal has beaten recently as well, like Nakamura.

Let's all just agree that it's best if this match just never happens. No one really wants to see it anyway.

There's a lot of talk going around about Cena being the guest ref for the match. Screams of a no-contest to keep them strong. Or the start of a quick Cena feud for someone, so a dodgy ending.

And I've seen talk that they're going to have Mahal lose the title to AJ Styles next week as they think Styles vs Lesnar is more of a draw. They're not wrong there! I hate the whole crossover thing, but that is a match that would work. Guess we'll see next week what happens.

It is a better match but I don't see it happening at all. Mahal has been building this with Lesnar, to suddenly switch with Styles would be bad storytelling.
