Better than Essa

Cold open this week. Cult of Personality hits and CM Punk comes strolling out with a huge smirk. He takes his time getting to the ring, grabbing a mic from the timekeeper before rolling in.

Punk: "Alright, let's clarify a couple of things."

Before he can get any further, Kurt Angle shows up. He's pissed, and doesn't look to be in the mood to listen to excuses.

Punk: "Woah, Kurt. Hold it!"

Arena security flood the ringside area, blocking the champion off from his challenger. Angle yells something at him about being a bitch.

Punk: "Before you overreact to what happened last week, listen for a second. First, let's just remind everyone of exactly what happened."

A video is played of the attack from last week.

Ambrose has nowhere to go, but Angle has to break the ankle lock as Rollins is getting involved again. Angle gives him a low blow, then turns back and takes a low blow of his own from Ambrose while Reigns distracts the referee. Ambrose lays Angle out with the midnight special, dropping him on his notoriously weak neck.
Winner: Dean Ambrose

Reigns rolls into the ring and the attack begins, but not for long as Cena sprints out. He gets the better of Ambrose for a moment, but Reigns takes him out from behind and the Shield regain control. Orton and Aries now sprint down, but they're met head on and by this point Rollins is back and we're at a stalemate. Angle recovers on the outside and looks to tip the scales, but he's taken out from behind by CM Punk and thrown into the steps. The Shield get the better of their Chaos opponents for a moment, and take that chance to retreat.

Punk: "Now, I know how that looks so I'm not going to blame you for jumping to conclusions, but I assure you Kurt, that was a total coincidence. Let me make this perfectly clear: I have nothing to do with the Shield."

Angle yells that what Punk is saying is bullshit.

Punk: "You don't have to believe me, but it's the truth. I was going to attack you anyway! The Shield showing up to keep the others busy was just a bonus."

Punk rolls out of the ring towards the line of security, who move forward to hold Angle back.

Punk: "I know this isn't what you want to hear, champ, but I don't need the Shield to take that belt from you."

Punk gets as close as he can, Angle takes a swing over the security. They swarm Angle, holding him back. Punk takes the chance to pop Angle with the microphone, dropping him to the ramp. Security now split, holding Punk back while others check on Angle. Punk shrugs them off as he backs away.

Punk: "I don't need them Kurt! I can get the job done on my own."

The challenger smirks again, having gotten the better of the champion for two straight weeks now.

We're back, and it's time for our first match. Los Colóns head out first, led by Rosa Mendes, and pose a little bit in the ring. They're joined by the Dudebusters, who are yet to really make much of an impact.

Match 1 - Los Colóns (w/ Rosa Mendes) v Dudebusters
- Short match, involving a fair bit of fast paced and high flying action. The finish comes when Rosa tries to distract the referee to allow Primo and Epico to double team Barreta, but it backfires as Croft hits the ring and takes Epico out, leaving Primo open for the dudebuster DDT.
Winners: Dudebusters

Barreta and Croft leave the arena victorious, but Primo and Epico regroup in the ring and are pissed. They call Rosa in to join them.

Primo: "That's it. I've had it. Epico told me to give you one more chance, but you blew it. Rosa, if you want to go be with Hunico, go ahead. I don't care anymore. You're fired!"

Rosa looks shocked and hurt for a moment, but pretty soon regains her Latina attitude and waves Primo off as she leaves. She calls something back to her former tag team in Spanish.

Primo: "And that's not all. Epico, don't get all sad that she's gone, ok? Because I got us a new third. Someone better, who will help us become the premier tag team in IFW! Come on out here!"

I spit in the face of people who don't want to be cool! - Carlito heads out to the stage, crossing paths with Rosa. Rosa turns back to Primo and Epico with a look of disgust, insulted that they would dump her in favour of this guy. Carlito heads down to the ring to join his brother and cousin, sharing a big group Colón hug and raising their arms.

Somewhere backstage, Charlie Haas and Shelton Benjamin are being prepared for an interview. Why are we seeing this? Because conveniently close by, there's a loud crash that the cameraman runs off to check out. As he gets closer it's revealed that the commotion has been cause by the Heatseekers, who are beating on the Dudley Boyz. Archer lays into Ray while Hawkins bounces Devon's head off various things.

Hawkins: "Lance? Get the tables."

Archer drops Ray with a big boot and starts sweeping things off two tables, clearing them for the Dudleyz. Haas and Benjamin show up to stop them.

Benjamin: "Hey! What are you doing?"
Haas: "They've got to make it to Chaos next week. Let them go."
Hawkins: "This isn't about you."
Benjamin: "You're making it about us, they're our challengers."
Hawkins: "Yeah? Then you should be thanking me."
Haas: "We don't need your help."

Hawkins backs up, motioning for Archer to follow suit. The champions stare them down as they slowly retreat, only to be attacked from behind by the recovering Dudleyz. Ray puts Haas through one of the tables with a uranage slam, while Devon puts Benjamin through the other with a scoop slam. The Dudleyz turn their attention back to the Heatseekers, but back away holding their heads and threatening retaliation at a later date. Hawkins stands over the broken champions to gloat a bit.

Hawkins: "Oh. Don't you?"

Back in the arena, John Morrison is heading down to the ring. He's not dressed to compete, so presumably he has something to say. We get a quick recap of what happened at the end of last week's show, when London tried to cash in money in the bank only to be cut off by Morrison before the match could start. When we come back, Morrison is in the ring with a microphone.

Morrison: "In case you haven't heard, that punk Paul London is walking around back there with my money in the bank briefcase. I won that case, twice, London didn't. There's not a chance in hell that I'm going to let anyone take the title shot that's rightfully mine. London, I hope you're listening. Last week was just the first of many. Every time you try to cash in, I'll be there. I'll be waiting to make sure you never get the chance. That contract has an expiry date, and if I have to come out here and lay you out each and every week until it expires, that's exactly what I'll do."

Vince McMahon, the chairman himself, shows up to put an end to this.

McMahon: "John, it's no secret that Paul London and I have a...history. It all started when he blew up my limousine, but that's not what I'm out here for. London won an immunity battle royal at Invasion's End, meaning I can't fire him for one year. What I can do though, is make his life hell."

Of course, Vince growls this in that way he growls things.

McMahon: "Quite frankly John, your declaration of foul play in the money in the bank stipulation means you've forced my hand. I'm left with no choice but to give you a shot at winning your- erm, the case back at Chaos. However, I need both you and Paul to sign an agreement that regardless of who wins, there will be no further foul play regarding the cashing in of the contract."
Morrison: "Sounds fair. You're on, Vince."
McMahon: "It's Mr McMahon. And John? Get the job done, ok?"

Morrison nods his agreement and the match is set! McMahon may not yet have to deal with Paul London as his world champion.

John Cena and Randy Orton are somewhere backstage, there's obvious tension between them.

Cena: "Look, I get it. We've never been friends. I'm not asking you to be my best man here, I just want to know you've got my back."
Orton: "I got your back? No John, you've got mine. Remember, I'm the captain here, this is my team. And no, I don't like you. But we have a common enemy here and I know whatever history we have is left in the past. For now."
Cena: "Forgive me for not returning the sentiment Randy, but we don't have the same reputations. I've made my career on three words; hustle, loyalty and respect. You? You've made yours on taking every opportunity you can, stabbing your best friends in the back."
Orton: "And I'm not denying that for a second. Nothing would make me happier than to lay you out right now, but that doesn't get me to where I want to be. When this is over, I'm going after the IFW championship. When I lay you out Cena, I won't do it when it'll cost me. I'll do it when it helps me."
Cena: "Believe me, I know that better than anyone."
"Woah, no. I'm not hearing this."

Orton and Cena turn to find Austin Aries approaching. Aries has his shades on, indoors.

Aries: "Guys, don't take this the wrong way, but this...dynamic? It's not working for me. See, if I'm going to lead this team to victory, I'm going to need you two to be on the same page."
Cena: "Right. Don't worry Aries, we got this."
Aries: "No, John, you don't. I need you two on the same page. My page. And to make sure you get there, I've just arranged a little tag team match for the main event tonight. You two have Hunico and Camacho. No need to thank me."

Aries slaps both men on the shoulder and walks away. Orton is seething with anger, Cena finds the humour in the situation.

Orton: "I'm gonna kill him."
Cena: "Let it go man, let it go."

Back to the arena now, as the IFW divas are in the ring awaiting their opponents. AJ Lee leads the Nexettes down the ramp, playing manager for Aksana, Kaitlyn, Ivelisse and Taeler.

Match 2 - Naomi, Gail Kim, Layla & Brie Bella v Nexettes (w/ AJ Lee)
There's a lot of quick tags in this one, giving everyone a good showing while hiding weaknesses. In the end, AJ can only watch on while the IFW girls hold their own against with the even numbers and Naomi proves to be the difference maker as she pins Aksana with the Knightfall.
Winners: Naomi Knight, Gail Kim, Layla & Brie Bella

AJ is furious. Naomi has all the momentum going into their title match next week. AJ orders her girls to attack Naomi but the IFW divas fend them off. The Nexettes retreat to the back and the faces pose on the turnbuckles.

Jeremy Borash is in his interview area.

JB: "Ladies and gentlemen, my guests at this time, Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns, the Shield. And guys, you have claimed that you oppose the injustice going on here in IFW. Can you elaborate?"
Ambrose: "I can."
JB: "Then...will you?"
Ambrose: "I will."
JB: "..."
Ambrose: "What?"
JB: "Go ahead."
Ambrose: "Oh, now? No, not now. I'll elaborate when I see fit."
JB: "Then why did you request this interview time?"
Ambrose: "To show you and the rest of the world that we don't do things when you want us to."
JB: "Can you at least explain why you attacked Austin Aries last week?"
Rollins: "I'll take that one. No."
JB: "Seriously guys? Are you going to say anything at all?"
Reigns: "Believe...in the Shield."

The group turn and walk away. Borash is disappointed at the worst interview of his career.

Back in the ring, David Otunga and Jinder Mahal are standing by.

Otunga: "Ladies and gentlemen, it is my pleasure to introduce to you your IFW silver champion, Ezekiel Jackson!"

Jackson's music hits and Brian Kendrick practically drags him out onto the ramp. Otunga and Mahal gesture for him to come to the ring and Kendrick urges him on, but Jackson holds his ground.

Otunga: "Ezekiel, please. Come on down here."
Jackson: "I ain't goin' nowhere until I get some answers."
Otunga: "I would really appreciate it if you would come to the ring, champ."

Zeke folds his arms and gives a slight head shake.

Otunga: "As you wish. I have the distinct honour of informing you, Mr Jackson, that you have been headhunted. You are to be the crowning jewel in his vision of the future."
Jackson: "Who?"
Otunga: "Oh Ezekiel, you know who."

Jackson has no idea, he looks as confused as anyone. Suddenly Mahal and Otunga are attacked from behind by D'Angelo Dinero. Dinero lays out Otunga with the Elijah experience and Mahal with the DDE, then goes back and forth with Kendrick as he hits the ring. Jackson heads down to make the save, at which point Dinero backs off. Jackson stares a hole through him, Dinero points and warns Jackson not to bring his boys next week.

We quickly cut backstage to Paul London's dressing room. In a scene just like two weeks ago, a group of officials are forcibly removing the money in the bank briefcase from London against his will. London is restrained and the case is taken.

We cut back to the ring, where JTG is waiting with a microphone.

JTG: "Yo. What up, Boston? I'm out here tonight to make myself an opportunity. Two weeks ago I came this close to beating Big E Langston, until he scored the upset. Well tonight I'm going to get my win back. Big E, come on out here! You're about to find out first hand why JT-Gizzle is the future of this company."

Soon enough, Langston comes out and slaps some powder between his hands. JTG warms up in the ring while Langston slowly approaches.

Match 3 - JTG v Big E Langston
- Unsurprisingly Langston makes short work of JTG, flattening him with the big ending.
Winner: Big E Langston

Langston poses a bit, but has done his work for the night and has no interest in dragging it out any longer than necessary. He leaves, victorious once again.

We throw to ringside, where JR and Taz are set to run down the PPV card.

JR: "Well folks, we're only a few days out from Chaos and things are heating up. We've just received word that Los Colóns, now headed by the returning Carlito, will take on Hunico and Camacho in tag action."
Taz: "I'm a big fan of Carlito JR, but my money's on Hunico in that one. Speaking of money, the money in the bank contract is being contested one more time as its former owner John Morrison takes on the man who stole it from him, Paul London."
JR: "London didn't steal anything, Taz! Unlike the Dudleyz, Team 3D, who jumped ahead of the Heatseekers to get a tag team title shot against the World's Greatest Tag Team."
Taz: "Nah, nah! My boys didn't steal nothin'! You're about to see the 25th tag title reign of the all-time best team in wrestling history, and they earned it! Just like the Pope, D'Angelo Dinero earned his title shot against Ezekiel Jackson."
JR: "The undefeated Ezekiel Jackson, Taz, don't forget that. Undefeated just like womens champion AJ Lee, who will be defending the title against her closest ally and fiercest rival Naomi Knight. What role will the Nexettes play in this one?"
Taz: "They're a formidable force JR, no doubt no doubt! But they're not the only unit causing chaos in IFW right now, Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns, known as the Shield, have made their presence felt in a major way. Their first test comes at the capable hands of John Cena and former IFW champion Austin Aries, led by team captain Randy Orton. The Shield are either going to suffer an embarrassing road block on their tag team debut, or make huge, huge names for themselves."
JR: "And what, if any, is the relationship between the Shield and CM Punk? Punk goes one on one with Kurt Angle for the IFW championship one more time next week at Chaos, but will Punk come alone?"
Taz: "Punk has made it perfectly clear JR, he has nothing to do with the Shield! Why won't you accept that?"

The conspiracy talk continues as Hunico and Camacho head down the ramp on their gold bicycle. Hunico spouts something in Spanish that I don't understand so I can't transcribe. Sorry. He says "ese" a few times though, if that helps. Next out is John Cena, who sprints down to the ring for his IFW debut. Randy Orton is out last, in stark contrast to Cena he takes an age slowly plodding down the aisle.

Match 4 - John Cena & Randy Orton v Hunico & Camacho
- Hunico and Camacho aren't bad here, but they stand no chance right from the start. This is little more than a warm up for Orton and Cena. They make short work of Camacho and Cena hits the ropes for the fist drop when Austin Aries' music hits for the distraction. Aries parades out to the stage with his cape, twirling and making his grand entrance. Camacho sneaks a roll up for a near fall. Orton yells at Aries, Aries pretends he can't hear.
Hunico and Orton tag in, and have a little back and forth. Again, Orton overpowers the little man and has the match as good as won within a minute or two. He hits his routine, the clotheslines and snap powerslam, then the taunt for the RKO. Orton hits his finisher and covers for...nothing. He looks up to find Aries on the apron, distracting the referee. Orton shoves the ref aside and gets in Aries' face, yelling at him to explain himself. Hunico dropkicks Orton into Aries, then rolls him up for one, two, so close! Orton kicks out, kicks Hunico in the midsection, throws him to the outside apron and hits his elevated DDT. Orton hammers on the canvas, boom, boom, boom, while waiting for Hunico to get up. Camacho storms the ring so Cena cuts him off with the AA at the same time Orton nails Hunico with the RKO.
Winners: Randy Orton & John Cena

The referee is about to raise Orton and Cena's hands, but is shoved away by Aries who raises their hands himself. They both yank their hands down and start berating him, to which he just smirks and informs them that he's gotten them on the same page. All of this is explained by Taz, who claims that...

Taz: "Aries is a genius!"
JR: "Well, I don't know about that Taz. We'll find out next week at Chaos!"
