I love the Office and I'm currently in the process of watching it all the way through for the third time. It still never gets old. Of course I'm talking about the US version of the show. I try watching the UK version and I just don't find it funny. Mostly because of Ricky Gervais. Anyways, from what I read is that the US version really goes off in its own direction really and isn't really that similar to the UK version. Just the same concept of an office environment? Anyways, the US version is on of my favorite shows of all time.

I'm sure all you across the pond are gonna disagree. But which one is better?

The US one is better. I don't mind Gervais at all, but the US one was definitely better. Plus Pam... everyone should have a Pam in their lives.

But without the UK Office, there would be no US office. Has to count for something.

Gervais is funny, he just has a very British sense of humour. Not surprised Americans don't really get his humour.

The Office, i.e. the original is one of the greatest sitcoms of this millennium. 14 quality episodes, no filler, doesn't go downhill or loses it way. Its funny because its a true depiction of the quirks of British people, done in a dry observational way. I remember people watching this when it first came out thinking it was a documentary because all sitcoms at the time were shit jokes with a laughter track telling you its time to laugh. Not only did The Office create many international off-shoots, it revitalised the mockumentary genre which created shows I do enjoy such as Parks & Rec and Modern Family.

The US Office would be funny in its own right because its a depiction of US workers. I don't find it that funny because I'm not immersed in that culture. The same way, if I watched the Swedish version of the Office and I wouldn't get their jokes either.
