UEFA: Association Threatens to Disqualify Russia and England From Euro 2016 Over Fan Violence

European football's governing body said both teams face potential sanctions, including disqualification, if the violence that took place before and after the teams' matchup on Saturday occurs again.

Here in the states our fans celebrate wins from sports  teams by flipping cars and crap. Or rioting. But never does a team get disqualified for it. Why should a team get disqualified if the fans get out of hand?

It's for fighting in the stadium, tearing up seats, etc. Anything outside of the stadium, UEFA can't do anything about. Inside the stadium they can do as it's all classed as part of the match. Russia are the main ones in this as not only were they the ones rushing at the England fans, they also made a few racist chants and stuff like that.

You can't control the crowd, don't blame the teams for what the fans do...

Agree about Robbie Savage.. but easy win?

You weren't winning until the 92nd minute.

True, but England dominated that game. Would be nice if England and Wales go through though. Coleman generally has them playing well, just didn't really work today apart from defensively.

Wish Roy would drop Sterling though. £50m attacker and he can't even score from 6 yards when given the ball on a plate. Fucking useless player. At the minimum he should be hitting the target. If he plays the next game I might give in, he can't get any worse than he has been so far and if that's not enough to get dropped then every other player might as well not bother either.

We won before a ball was even kicked. All we had to do was break down the parked bus. Bale & Ramsey giving it the big'un in the media for the past couple of days and they failed. If it wasn't for that muppet Joe Hart to replicate the Slovak keepers positioning for the free kick. It would have been a clean sweep.

I laughed at how Bale & Ramsey have made themselves to look like morons. You should be annoyed though. Anyone who comes out and says how how much pride & passion they've got. And that they've got better ability than us. Then come game time, play 11 men behind the ball, clinging on for a draw and then eventually roll over and die like a bunch of cockroaches. How can you be proud of a performance like that? Bale is so proud to be Welsh that's why he moved as far away as possible. And Ramsey has lived in England so long, he's now eligible to play for our national team. I'm just hoping dragons can grow new heads because we slayed the last one.

Playing for a draw is  the smart thing to do when you're the underdogs and you already have a win under your belt. I expected us to lose and our performance when you take away your English bias was on target for a draw until the 92nd minute.

You just sound like a sore winner.

Let's see how vocal you are when England get eliminated on penalties in the quarter finals against Turkey or something.

So is this Euro thing the same thing as the Copa America tournament? I watched the USA vs. Ecuador last night. That was fun, now we gotta go on to play Messi and probably lose...

Yes, like that's even a thing. But it beats eating humble pie filled with Gareth Bale's lies.

You're right Ross, England are brimming with passion. It was that passion that helped them get a 0-0 vs Slovakia to secure 2nd place. What a great achievement for them.

Oh is it only elitist football fans like you who can talk about football here then?

I know exactly what I'm talking about. You've just shut up now because you can't brag about England.

You'd think England would be able to finish above a team you beat "before the ball was even kicked".

But of course, England got lucky with their last-minute winner against Wales otherwise they'd be looking at three draws. Fantastic tournament performance, that. 🙂

There's Spain, and then there's everyone else.  Arguing over who is the better runner up seems pointless.

Germany will likely win it. The two best teams in Europe are by far Spain and Germany. It's whoever follows them.

Although if you're to believe FIFA rankings, then Belgium are the best team in Europe and the second best international team in the world. Just shows why their rankings are meaningless as there's no way they're better than Germany or Spain for a start. I wouldn't even have them above Italy, England (even with no bias) and France. I think they'd even struggle against Portugal who haven't been great.

No, just those who can read comments for what they are, instead of trying to fit them into their own narrative.

But you don't though, that's the scary thing. I'm not sure if you're serious or attempting a cringe-inducing go at banter. You clearly didn't see the game, yet as soon at the final whistle blows, you run onto the internet trying to have a pop at me. Still harbouring resentment from when we beat you in the last game.

Every team we've played so far has played 10 men behind the ball, looking for a draw. We've dominated every game because none of the teams in that group were as good as us. That's a fact. Every other team in that group has had competitive 50/50 open matches so they will be able to score goals. Once we start playing against teams who have to win rather than nick a draw we should better.

We rested 6 players last night, way too many. He played an unfit Jack Wilshere who kept losing the ball and Bertrand & Clyne who had not played in 3 weeks.

You still do not even understand this comment. It's basically about the arrogance of Bale & Ramsay saying how great they were. Then when the game came they couldn't live up to their own words.

Again fitting it into your own narrative. Russia game where they nicked a goal in the 92nd minute, we were unlucky not to win that one too.

If we play badly, I'll say we have. But we haven't, all three performances have been good.

Having watched almost every match this tournament, and all but Wales match last night of our group, this is the best point that's been made and it's true. I commented to you last night Rhys that Slovakia were playing with 10 men behind the ball and that's totally different to how they played against Wales and Russia. Wales seemed hell of a lot more defensive than they usually are against England. They went for the draw and nothing more. No team has really troubled England, Hart has had very little to do in 3 game so far. We have dominated the group, we have had more attempts than any other team in the competition so far (although that could change given that other teams are still to play 3 games, but that changes nothing for our group). A high percentage of our shots are recorded as blocked by players.

Englands main problem has been inability to score given the amount of chances we're creating. Insisting on playing people like Sterling and Wilshere though isn't helping, Sterling especially - by far the worst attacker in the England team and form wise probably the worst in the tournament. Keep him out and our attacks might be a lot more fruitful.

I'm glad both teams have gone through though. Just need N.Ireland to progress as well and it will have been a good tournament for the UK teams.

Lol. I'm not having a pop at you. There's no actual animosity over it, it's a bloody football game and you're some guy on a wrestling forum. You are the one who opened this whole can of worms by acting like England were world beaters against Wales when they got a 92nd minute winner. It's not like you thrashed us, even if you did perform better. Then when it comes to England flopping hard against Slovakia (because as well as they may have played, they couldn't finish them off) you can't handle eating your own words.

I didn't see the game, no. Nor did I pretend I did see it, nor did I even say that England performed badly. The fact is though, no matter how well you think they did, they still didn't get the job done. England tried on two occasions against Russia and Slovakia to win a game, and failed. You can dominate as many games as you want, it doesn't mean shit if you can't win the game.

Of course I understand the comment. Bale and Ramsey didn't go on about how great they were, Bale said they have more passion than England (which I agree with) and Ramsey said they have a better team than England (which I don't agree with). You didn't like it that Welsh players were criticising your team and like a typical English fan you bragged to the moon when you beat Wales and then as soon as things don't go your way, the people who criticise England for not getting the job done "don't know what they're talking about".

Well you'd know all about nicking 92nd minute goals.

Ideal, N.Ireland have been confirmed as one of the third placed teams to qualify for the next round after todays results. That's awesome for a squad like theirs.
