There's a new drama coming out next month called Vinyl about New York's music scene in the mid 70's. The synopsis is very open, "A New York music executive in the late 1970s hustles to make a career out of the city's diverse music scene. " Judging from the trailers there's a lot of drugs, sex and rock & roll. The mid 70's was a creative influx of different genre's criss-crossing over. Such as the emergence of punk, disco & new wave mixing with the already established styles of rock in venue's like CBGB's & Club 82.

It stars Bobby Cannavale, Olivia Wilde & Ray Romano. The show was devised by Terence Winter (Soprano's, Boardwalk Empire, Wolf of Wall Street). Martin Scoresese directed the pilot episode. Mick Jagger had creative input to the original story, his son James plays the lead singer of a punk-rock band who feature in the show.

Cancelled after one season. At least we got to see Olivia Wilde in all her glory.

I didn't watch this, but from what I've heard is that this wasn't that good.

It wasn't a bad show. It has an average rating of 8/10 from 12,000 people on IMDB. The viewership was quite low but it is a premium channel & its rumoured to have cost $100m to produce the first season. Bobby Cannavale sometimes struggled as the leading man in the show but he was perfectly fine. HBO said there was going to be another season but later pulled out as they changed their head of programming. They did the same with Jack Black's show, The Brink & Dustin Hoffman's show, Luck. HBO do put out some cool shows but they don't like to let them have an ending. They randomly dropped Deadwood after 3 seasons and Boardwalk Empire was hurriedly brought to a close after 5 seasons because it cost too much money to produce.

I watched Boardwalk Empire's first season, was an awesome show! Need to watch the other seasons here, I wish sometime they would go on Netflix 😋 I doubt any HBO show is on Netflix though, since HBO has their own HBO GO thing I think they call it.
